Post subject: Jazzmaster guards

I have bought 2 Jazzmasters off of ebay and have noticed something about both of them. The pickguards do not fit around the neck pocket very well. Its a little off. It doesn't affect the playability and I don't really care but i was curious. Is this the way Jazzmaster guards are put on?
