I have had several ghostly encounters in my lifetime.

My first one happend when my wife and I were visiting her father. We had stayed the night in her old room. Around 1 a.m. I heard what sounded like a horse drawn wagon moving at a high rate of speed coming from outside the house (the windows were open because it was Spring). I bolted straight up from bed and ran to the window to see what was going on. My wife wakes up and tells me to come back to bed, it was just the stage coach going by. I asked her what stage coach, there hadn't been a stage coach line in that town for over 100 years. She calmly and plainly states "the ghost coach". Then I got the story that her father's house was built next to an old stage coach route and it comes by frequently. She also told me there is a boy that is in the house dressed in late 1800's clothing that frequently moves things around. Luckily I never experienced that sighting or had anything missing while I was there.

My next experience with the supernatural was while I was stationed at White Sands Missile Range. I was a medic working the midnight shift and was performing a security check of the building. I was in a part of the clinic that used to be a ward for patients back in the day (it used to be a 25 bed hospital when the building was first built). I was checking the back doors and from the corner of my eye I see this black shape walking next to me. I am figuring it is just my shadow. I stop to check a door and the shape keeps moving forward. I was told later that I wasn't the only to have this experience late at night in that part of the clinic.

The next experience was while stationed in Ft. Lewis Washington, the quarters we lived in my daughter stated she did not like going to the bathroom that was the kids bathroom. She insisted on using my wife's and my bathroom to take baths in. She told us strange stuff happened in there. Also at random times, the bathroom light would come on and no one was in the bathroom. We would get up and sure enough the light switch was on. This happened for the whole year and a half we were there.

My current house we live at has a figure that roams the back yard. My wife says she has seen the thing clearly and looks like a little girl. My son thought his mom was standing next to me while I was in the back yard and when he came out to talk to her, she was not there. Understand my wife is 4'11" and I know she was not out there with me, in fact she was in the bedroom when this happened. I have seen this as well in the back yard, thinking it was one on my children, call them to come in, and they come from their room to ask what I needed.

I just have chalked it all up to paranormal activity and have just learned to live with it. I have also had 2 dogs die since we have been here (of old age) and swear I see them going around corners or feel them jumping up on the bed. So far nothing bad or outrageous has happened, just a little freaky when it does.

Do I think there is more to this world than the physical, yes. Do I ever think someone is crazy for having a strange experience, no. I have them too. I just do not talk about them much unless asked, or someone else shares his or her experience.

Welcome to the world of Ghosts. Some are active hauntings and some are residual hauntings. The residual hauntings you can think of as being on a tape recorder replaying the same things over and over. The active ones interact with us.

I've seen and felt too many strange things to emphatically deny the existence of spirits.

That being said, I also try to maintain a healthy skepticism.

i've felt but never seen anything. too many stories to tell. we hang out in a bunch of old places. it's a priveledge. i'd rather deal with "spirits" than an angry hog or a rattlesnake. this stuff fascinates us.
just be safe

Why?

That sounds an awful lot like trying to force religion on people.

sounds nothing like trying to force religion on people imo. sounds more like presenting another view to someone who is religious.

I've seen and heard things I can't explain, and I used to not believe in ghosts, but I really can't say there are none now.
I do believe in demons and a friend who is a minister has worked with a family that has been tormented by what could be called demonic entities, and he has told me about things that I won't repeat.
I will say this,I hope to never be bothered by something like that.

I have a couple of experiences...

one was when i worked at the Melting Pot in St. Pete florida, not sure if its still there but when i worked there it was built in a building that was a funeral parlor in the early part of the century and had a reputation of being haunted, at least among the staff, there was a LOT of weird things that happened there.

another thing that happened was when i was at my nephews christening in church. I was checking my sister in laws camera and when i looked up the Statue of the Virgin Mary was looking out at our section, i blinked and i literally saw her move and return to her position of looking down. I'm sure it was my imagination but it sure freaked me the hell out.

I heard my friends deceased grandparents walking down the stairs in their 5th generation farm house at about 3 in the morning, but i couldn't see them. That's probably good that I didn't!
