Could I use a set of these, http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/D%27Addario-EXL115W-Nickel-BluesJazz-Wound-3rd-Electric-Guitar-Strings?sku=100196 , on an acoustic guitar? I'm 99% sure that my acoustic is set up for .11's (it's been a while), and the only acoustic guitar strings I have are .12's. Would it be so bad if I used the .12's, or would it be better to use the electric guitar strings? It's just for around the house practice, and I'm going to change them again soon anyway. It's just a temporary fix.

Should be fine. I use Electric guitar strings on my acoustics all the time.

Well, the bridge pin and the low E string are stuck so it's a moot question anyway. I've tried everything I can think of to push or pry it out but it won't budge. I'll get my Dad to look at it, it may be a matter of strength. But if he can't get it out either I'll have to take it to my tech and I'll pick up some acoustic guitar strings while I'm at it.

It's not coming out using the bridge pin puller on a string winder?

If your Dad can't get it out, you can try this
http://elderly.com/accessories/items/CBPR.htm

Remember, the bridge pins don't need to be pushed in real hard. The tension of the string actually holds the string in place not the pin.

All the others just popped right out when I used my bridge pin puller. I felt it through the sound hole (it's a little 3/4 size acoustic) and I think it could be the ball end of the string holding it in. If that's the case I don't really know how to deal with it without damaging the guitar.

I'm old school...a pair of pliers over the top of the pin...gently turning left and right in small increments while lightly lifting up.

Good luck!

I tried it, then my Dad tried it and it still won't come out. I'm just going to take it to my tech this Monday. He has a trick for just about everything.

I am the same way. Always works for me.

TGS,

I used to use those on my electrics before switching to Fender Bullets (I now own only Fender or Squier Strats). I have used electric strings on my acoustic before, but always gone back to acoustic strings. I just like a wound G string on my acoustic, but that is just me.

Take all the other bridge pins out. Get your pair of pliers in hand, reach into the soundhole and towards the underside of the bridge. Locate the bridge pin and gently tap upwards on the bridge pins end.

Be careful with that trick though.

I tried that too, no luck. I'm afraid of breaking it so I've left it alone. I'm still going to take it into the shop, since that's probably my best bet. And if my tech breaks it (which he won't, but if he did), store credit!
