Other than eBay and Craigslist where do you look online when searching for new/used gear?

I use Kijiji also. I think it is owned by E-Bay. Tried to sell some gear through there. Some people are impossible to deal with. If you have a good piece of gear, expect to get lots of people asking you to trade for some pieces of utter crap.

It can be fun actually.

Never found a good deal online.

I dont buy online at this point in time, but I look on musicians friend.

And nevin, good to have you back 8)

Hey Chet!

There are several good used gear stores in Lawton. Went in both of them today - 1st store had a nice, used Custom Shop '57 Strat and several gently used MIM Strats, the 2nd had several used MIM Strats. (One of which; a black w/ roseboard neck, mint condition, is now in his back room on layaway with my name on it!) It's going to be a project, I just don't know what yet.

I think w/ all the GI's from Ft Sill, there seems to be a pretty good selection of used gear that's usually different every couple of weeks, as they sell stuff when they either PCS or run out of beer money. Usually it's pretty low mileage stuff.

I've purchased several used Strats and Teles and my Cyclone as well as amps from both these shops. Both guys price their used gear very fairly, and even then they will usually knock another $25 - $50 off for me.

Next time you come out we'll get together again and I'll take you to both places!

Hope you're doing better - how's the head cold?

RickyD

Hey - btw - I just closed on a house in Lawton two weeks ago. It's about 1 1/2 miles east of where we had lunch - close to the Old Town area. I've got several extra bedrooms, a man cave just for my gear, and a small shop. So when you come out next, you can stay at my place. We'll jam!

Chet I always check the listings on the Gear Page and Harmony Centals sellers forums as they offer some great deals but I look for someone that is close to me as these guys sell and trade on the merit system which really offers no protection at all. But if someone is from NY or NJ I will contact them.

Hi Chet,

My neighbor who is my guitar guru just sent me this website to look at. He is gassing for one of their guitars and I think that there may be a family tie for him as well.

Anyways check it out-pretty nice stuff IMHO:

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Thanks RickyD

I may take you up on that. We still have some unfinished business in the area. Not sure when I would be in the area yet though.
The head cold seems to be slowly getting better. I'm medicating and resting.

I do check the Gear Page, but stay clear of HC.

We have a great site here called fastfude.org

Its dedicated to Northern Ireland musicians and covers selling/buying gear, gig listings and band recruitment among other things.

Very handy!

+1 on the Gear Page and Harmony. The Gear Page tends to have higher quality(more expensive) stuff and the folks there are very knowledgeable. Harmony I find has younger folks.

I've gotten all of my gear from those 4 places through trades of purchases: eBay, CL, TGP, and HC

I only ever bought one thing online and that was a long time ago. I bought my SFVR from a guy on Harmony Central and I likely won't do it again. However I have had a fair bit of luck selling things locally on KiJiJi but I've found you have to be patient. Most people who respond to my KiJiJi ads want to get the item for next to nothing. As soon as they low-ball me I end the dialog with a flat "no" and a "goodbye". When someone offers something close to my price then I'll dicker.
