Anyone have one of these? I'm poking around my FX unit looking for a good distortion to use for a Solo and I keep coming back to this. Granted this is modeling and not the real McCoy but it still sounds very prestigious. Kinda reminds me of a Big Muff but "one louder" or "one heavier".

cool pedal

They are very cool pedals. I used to own an original big black one which was more akin to a JCM 800 and to this day I regret selling it. Binterz, our rhythm guitarist uses a Guv'nor II as a boost and again it sounds great but very like Marshall's more recent amps.

Don't think it's quite the face melter compared to a Big Muff though. I use a Little Big Muff as my boost and it's ferocious!

Go for it mate, very handy to have around too.

We had a thread not long ago about how guitar-isms can be taken the wrong way. I even had one about how my pedal case-board leaked through a storm and I had a very wet Muff.

Guess I'll be using the search feature this weekend. LOL Work has me totally baked today. It's BOILING hot for some reason too. I'm currently violating dresscode having changed into a t-shirt just to deal with it. Hopefully nobody will notice.

Dude dont be silly, NONE taken whatsoever... I'm glad your having a great day. I'm chilling in the shop with the other techs enjoying some beers and working on our tune. Inspired by the 80s movie soundtrack thread. Looking forward to posting it.

You can build your own for around 60 bucks from general guitar gadgets.

These things aren't hard to build and sound great. I've built a few of my own from Build Your Own Clone. You learn as you go too.

I have one of the early metal cased English made Guv'nors and it's like having a 2203 or 2204 for a pre-amp,it certainly has the distinctive Marshall roar. The MIC plastic jobbies don't have quite the punch of the English ones but they're still very, very good and much better than most that are out there today. My nephew has been using an MIC Guv'nor for years to get an overdrive tone from the old 72 Marshall Artiste that I sold him a few years ago and he wouldn't use anything else except for the Fuzzface he uses for Hendrix stuff-the Hendrix/Beatles thing runs in the family.

Yeah it's the English made metal one I had. Still so gutted I sold it!

I wish too. I found a schematic but it looks pretty complex and I've built some stuff from scratch including etching the boards.

Mate i'm suprised you didnt go P2P with it.

Looks like I'm going to be forced into pedal making. I want a octave fuzz wah without the bootstrapping that plagues tonebenders and fuzzfaces. Then I want a delayed harmonist too. I gotta have a pitchshifter that moves the shifted signal a tiny bit later than the direct signal.

Anything to get away from the humdrum sound of modern pedals.

The worst thing is that this stuff is cheap as chips to make. I paid £100 for a vintage wahwah. Thats the absolute most I'm ever spending on a pedal ever.
