After decades solely as a plucked strings devotee and never having played anything else...

...after long deliberation, "suitable" keyboards were as researched ad nauseum and a Yamaha YPG-635 "Portable Grand" purchased a week ago.

To quote a television character from quite a while ago...

..."Veddy interesting.

Cool 8)

I really like the variety of sounds this keybd has. From pianos, organs, bass, strings to saxes, trumpets, synth pads, drum kits, the list goes on and on. Lots of these sounds were very expressive which is great for sparking song ideas. Like the YPG-625, the Yamaha YPG-635 can operate in dual and split voice modes. You can even adjust the amounts of volume, panning, reverb, chorus, DSP, and octave settings relative to each voice in both dual and split voice modes. Have fun with it!!!

It's cool to have a keyboard around.

I used to have a Yamaha PSR-170, now I have a Yamaha YPT-300

i use mine as a drum machine. i even learned a ronnie milsap song by accident. "it was almost like a song". i play it for the wifey and sing it like robert goulet. it's actually pretty good. no, no it's not good at all.
have fun with it.

Yamaha makes great keyboards,I have a PSR38 from the early 90s and the piano settings are really well sampled as are all the other voices.I also have a Yamaha CS-01 mini synth and it sounds monsterous through a big amp or PA.I have a vintage Teischord combo organ from the 60s and the makers of Teisco guitars it sounds like a cross between a Farfisa and A Vox Jaguar.Keyboards are a great addition to any guitarists inventory.

Enjoy! :D

Makes me wish i still had my old Roland Juno-6. Not really the same since its more of an Analog Synth but boy was that fun. I recently visited a friend in NC and there it was sitting in his living room. I asked if that was my old synth because I noticed one of the fader caps missing just like mine, and he said yes. The guy I sold it to was selling it so he bought it to keep it close to the "family". I'm praying he decides to sell it so i can be reunited with it.

cool acquisition JSJH! in college I rented an upright when I took a keyboards class for 2 semesters, an enlightening experience learning to play and fun as well.
