my three favorite bass players are by far Krist Novoselic, Cliff Williams, and Flea...... quite a varying group lol

and riley..... im surprised you would say that because in Nirvanas music the bass is pretty easy to hear.... my favorite example would have to be lounge act

I can hear the bass at the beggining, but not when the guitar kicks in. The only two nirvana songs where I can hear the bass all the way through is radio friendly unit shifter, and b
breed. Also if I focus really hard, I can hear it in some ramone songs.

I learned both simultaneously from the start. Believe it or not though, I learned on an upright bass! I actually felt confined when I first started playing bass guitars due to the frets. I played a fretless for two years just to help with my transition.

To me, there has always been (and still is) a lot of fun in the way to interpret the same songs depending on whether it is guitar or bass I'm playing.

Congratulations on learning another instrument and gaining a whole other perspective, adding to your musical education!

martian I played around on a relatives stand up bass too. i need to make some inquiries and see if it's still around. i hadn't seen it since i was 9 or 10 years old, so I wonder what has become of it in the intervening decades.
