I use a Boss GT-8 for fun. It great.

Turrican, I have a GT6. I love it. The only thing i wish it did that i believe the GT8 allows you to do is layer two different amp models. Does it also allow you to layer distortion/OD pedals? Don't think the GT6 will allow for that either. However... overall, I love my GT6

There is a patch editor freeware that you can download that is pretty cool. Allows you to easily backup patches and also share. I created a couple of Gilmour patches ive uploaded to their server.

Do you have a link to that? I'd love to check it out especially your patches. I havent figured out how to do that yet. These things are so fun its like having 50 different amps plus all the effects I could ever use.

Here is a link to the Editor program.

For the GT6 you have to use a midi to USB converter and dealing with MIDI (Mindless Idiots Demanding the Impossible) can always be a bit of a pain in the arse. I have a bald spot from pulling my hair out trying to get the thing to talk to my puter. But once i got it working it made life much easier. You can create patches in real time using the GUI and do a Midi Sys Ex dump to load and save patches and banks. What i love about the Boss GT series is that the Amp Models, preamps, OD/Distortion and even the basic FX like Chorus, Delay and Verb are right there as Knobs so you don't have to deal with menues all that much. If you want additional FX you go into the other FX pages but its very intuitive. I just wish it had a model for a Hiwatt amp.

I know the GT10 has a USB port so that must be nice and easy. GT8 is still MIDI correct?

anyway... here is the link for my patches.

They are on the second page in the GT6 patch folder and are the Gilmour patches. The Muff one and The Metal Zone one are ok but I was pleased with the Fuzz one where i was going for the Dark Side sound, and the Roto patch i created is descent and tried to incorporate the expression pedal as a faux roto vibe pedal to control the speed of the phase shift. I'm still trying to figure out how to adjust expression pedal so that its not so sensitive. There has to be a way and i don't really do much at work so have lots of free time... just don't tell me boss.

If you want to hear a sample of the Fuzz and Roto patch there is a thread called "Hacking Tracks" where i layed down GTR tracks for "Time" to a backing track to test the patches. Ignore the intro... its complete crap, it was more about the other two sounds.

hope you enjoy. Glad to see another Boss GT user on the board.
