Hello fellow Forum Users,

Most of my life Ive been a Gibson Fan, most recently bought a Telecaster, and a Strat, and they are my two new favourite guitars. Most recently, Ive seen another guitar Id like to buy thats made by Fender.

Joe Perry plays this guitar, it has the body of a stratocaster, just an inverted neck. The video is dark, but the guitar is shown really well, at 4:21, 4:22, 5:03-5:05
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XO2N3YKaPQo

Anyways, I was just thinking of buying one of these guitars, providing its not some sort of custom built thing. Anyways any help on identifying this guitar would be great, and does anyone know if its something thats still availble from Fender?

thanks!

I was also told it could be a Voodoo Stratocastor, is that a possibility?

As far as I know, itt's a customized lefty Strat with a lefty Tele neck.
Perry talks a bit about his gear here:

He has quite a few oddballs in his 600+ guitars collection.

Brad Whitford has a Floyd Rose guitar here.

It's a custom made guitar. Lefty Strat body and lefty Tele neck. Very odd combo. With a custom looking paint job. Fender never made one of these for regular production. Maybe it's not even a Fender. I assume Joe Perry can afford to have any luthier make anything he wants.

You can't piece one together yourself from a stock lefty Fender body and neck because Tele necks don't fit in Strat neck pockets. Contact Warmoth http://www.warmoth.com/Pages/ClassicSho ... =Neck,Tele they might be able to do a Tele neck that is compatible with a Strat neck pocket.

Good luck!

EDIT: Purple beat me to it! I type slow...

Kudos for the technical explanation and the Warmoth idea.

Definitely a Tele neck.
