I am with civilleira all the way on this. The bottom line is you bought the guitar for a steal and you know the original owner so you know all about the guitar, plus you got a $200 store credit. The downslide is that you could never believe anything you were told in there and outside of buying strings or sealed products are finished in there. But at least you let them know they did not pull a fast one on you and got a honey of a deal on a great Tele that you just about got for half price, by bringing it back the only one you would spite would be yourself, as I would like you to try and find that guitar in mint shape for that price. You made your point now just kind of let it die down and go spend the $200 credit and be done with them.

Personally I would have returned the guitar, got a complete refund, then reported them to Fender.

+10

that is appalling. Its folks like you that keep those shops in business in the shadow of the Franchise music stores so you'd think they'd be a bit more honest than that... and to simply offer you a set of strings... even more insulting. I'd a told him to GFYS and demanded my money back.

... Of course... that's a great point too. Perhaps i'm a bit impulsive. I suppose the important thing is that in the end, you have a guitar you love.

I noticed you didn't mention where it was made is it MIM or AIM ? as it effects how much they are sold for.
