We've had some interesting legal moves here in AZ and I wonder what you
musical types think of this:

First, we can now carry a concealed firearm with out applying for a permit. Not sure if this is law, or just pending, but will soon be law.

Second, I'm sure you've heard, we have made it "illegal" to be an illegal alien. That is, the police can, and are required to ask about the status of anyone they believe to be in this country illegally. If they are here illegally, the aliens can be charged with trespassing and given to federal authorities for 'processing'. Deportation, perhaps.

Me, I'm a little uneasy about the first law, cause I know I'm safe with a weapon, but I just dont know about everyone else. We shall see...

On the immigration law, I'm totally behind it. The news every night is a cavalcade of illegal alien crime. Home invasions are an every day event,
and the situation needed to be addressed. I'm glad our Gov, Jan Brewer signed this bill into law, courageously, with mobs of protesters outside the capitol building. You know, every elected official takes an oath to protect
us, but our gov and Maricopa County Sheriff, Joe Arpio, seem to be the only ones taking it seriously. Especially Arpio. :D

I'd like to know what you think of all this, and if you come to Arizona, dont worry about being car-jacked. Everyone will assume you're packing :)

I'm ten miles from the Mexican frontier. I see it all......every day.

And I've had my CCW permit for several years now.

We'll soon see if the new laws make any difference.

I have no problem with the immigration law... Because it is simply... well... enforcing a law...

But, I would request that the law be enforced as it is presented... That is, police should question ALL adults... There is no way you can determine someone's immigration status by simply looking at them and hearing how they talk...

If the law is presented as NOT being racial profiling, then so be it... Let's not be deceptive or try to pull the wool over anyone's eyes... I am sick and tired of deception in this world especially when it involves the police and/or politicians...

Welcome to the second amendment. Heretofore, Vermont has been the only state with true second amendment rights. I can carry anywhere without a permit. Schools, courts, and Federal buildings excepted of course. 8)

I can see more states adopting ways to curb the flow of illegal aliens across their borders as the burden of support becomes even greater. What with our new "Obama Care" health plan, it will be even more desirable to sneak in and take advantage of our health care system.

The only people who will have trouble getting health care will be guys like me who worked all their lives and paid all their taxes.

I am all for this first one, everyone should be allowed to carry. The ones you have to worry about do it anyway.
The second one , it's about time. If an Office has a problem with someone and they can not prove residency an I.D. of them selfs lock them up and ship them back. The Governor of Maryland has fought against laws like this because it is considered a voting base for his party. Our right to carry law is a joke also, you have to show reason why to do so almost nobody gets approved and I am talking a few dozen a year may get it. That said the city of Baltimore alone will have over 300 people shot and killed this year and over 1000 shootings so you see how well that works . Only the criminals get to carry.

IMO, I feel that the best way to solve the illegal immigration problem would be for the Federal government to get offf their duffs and start going after the sweat shops and temp agencies that hire these people ,and start clamping down on them. Do that, and I think illegal immigration would go down quite a bit. Concerning the new Arizona law, I personally don't agree with it because IMO, it reeks of racism. I just can't picture a Arizona state trooper pulling over a white person and asking them if they're here from either Canada or Great Britain legally. This is just an excuse to target hispanics and it's not right!
How many Canadian and British illegals are here. It is a case of percentages and who fit the most common profile. Yes I said profile! It is a proven fact that profiling works an yes race is involved.
It is using past histories and odds.

The United States Border Patrol is already doing just this. They operate several border checkpoints withing the state along all the major corridors leading to and from Mexico. Every vehicle must stop and all occupants are asked about their citizenship. Those drivers and/or passengers who raise suspicions are flagged for more intense questioning. The courts have already ruled that these checkpoints and the manner of their operation are perfectly legal under federal law. This new state initiative is no different.

Are illegals allowed to carry concealed weapons?
I wouldn't like to be a cop.

Have you tried the Acme Magnum Uranium PU-40 Explosive Space Modulator disintegrator ray hand gun?

All kidding aside what is to stop illegals from carrying now? They are all breaking the law and many in other ways then being here. They give Police false names all the time and males use there mothers maiden names as common practice.

That may be true... but if you are going to all of sudden make profiling a police practice, put it in writing in the law passed ! Don't be deceptive...

There is no way you can tell that someone is a US citizen or an immigrant based on how someone looks or talks... No way... This is why profiling is unfair...

I have heard from some police officers on the radio and I have talked to one in person and from what they tell me nothing is going to change... They already report illegals to ICE... They believe they will only ID those that are suspected of criminal activity or being seen breaking the law... This is what they already do....

A driver's license and/or state id will be good enough to prove that you are legally here in AZ.. That much I know.. 100% positive...

way to go arizona. but remember, folks are trying to get re-elected. i would love for my state of texas to follow. i work with illegals on a daily basis. most are hard working good folks. but, they don't get the tax bill like i do each year. i too carry and have a liscence to do so. i'd carry without it. i don't have as much as a parking ticket on my record. the expense to our country from the illegals is staggering but you won't here it in the mainstream media. i must shut up NOW.
