The 70's.
Two words.
Pink Floyd.

The best Pink Floyd albums came out in the 70's: Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall.

Absolutely! The best of any band from the 60's and 70's still around today was the 60's and 70's! Stones, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Kiss, Good Rats, Zappa, etc....

Alarm!

Warning!

Resurrected thread!

'Was in a big metro Chicago art-supplies store yesterday. Off-time, only a few customers, 4 staff ages between 20-40.

Some Zep was playing on the store PA. In the past 20 minutes, Simon and Garfunkle and Dead and Band and Stones had played.

'Was checking out and asked, idly, why they were playing 40 year-old music when the lot of them were not even born then.

"Dude, " replied a man, I'm 40 and this is the coolest music ever made." Two 20s girls each said something about the music today 'totally sucking.' Another guy proceeded to explain how the Stones and Zep would never be surpassed.

So, 'gotta admit, the music-decade between '63 and '73 was this picker's fave. Interesting to hear same from nowadays-types, tho, unanimously.

My vote goes to the 60s. There were some many inventive bands and artists IMO

60's to early 70's. I grew up in that period and life was really good.

I like the 50's, the 60's, and the 70's. Buddy Holly rocked!! Then from the 60's, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones are some of my favorites. The Who is my second favorite band and they went from the 60's up until now(with a long break in between!)

My favorite to listen to wuold be 60's
My favorite, historicaly, it the late 30's. Les Pual invented Multi-Track recording, Memphis was recording Blues Masters and Big Band Swing was in ful "Swing", Prohibition had been lifted, so everything had a Feel Good Party atmosphere. WW2 had't taken us out of our countries Adolecence, We still had Glee Clubs, and Trailer Touring had just began to sweep the country, and with it the reinvention of American Folk.

Boy, what a time to have a Martin D-14, and a Harley Davidson! Or an Indian.

I'm not into any particular decade. Any and every decade had bands that rocked and still are considered the best in what they did. Every decade also had stuff that was pathetically lame and doesn't deserve remembering much less mentioning. I went through High School in the '70's so I know. Anybody remember 'Afternoon Delight'? Baaaaaarrrrrrffff! Hey Raaaallllph! Go get the Buuuuuiiick!

That being said, I really liked Indie (pre Grunge) when it still WAS Indie and hadn't 'sold out' to the major record labels. Maybe music is still being made that way, but MAN, is it hard to find!
