It was almost all plug in and play, very few pedals around and surely, no pedalboards.

Hi JSJH the biggest tragedy is not only the percentage using drugs but the type of drugs.Back in the 60s & 70s the drugs de jour were mostly weed and acid and a bit of speed,cocaine and heroin were rare but today the drugs being used are way more potent and dangerous like meth,crack,ecstasy and the date rape drugs.Some of these drugs are very highly addictive and even using 2 or 3 times is all it takes.I don't mind having the odd joint as it helps curb the side effects of the pain meds I take and helps me sleep but I wouldn't touch any of the stuff that's out there for a million bucks-my life is worth more than that.
