If I put a Celestion V-30 (60-watt) in a 70-watt amp?

Gave it a quick shot to hear it.. I don't know. Anyone else on here not all that impressed with V-30s.. It sounds like it has a midrange honk to it in the clean channel.

I have a Vintage 30 in my old Traynor Guitar Mate and it really brings out the beautiful tone the amp developes when pushed and when played clean. I don't know whether or not putting one in a 70 W amp would hurt it, I have 25 W Celestions in my 4-12 1960 Marshall cab and run my 50W JCM 800 2204 through it at full power with no ill effects except to the ears.

I had to take it out of this particular amp. It's an Ampeg SS-70. They seem to go well with my Marshalls and my old Mesa for dist., but once I switched genres and started using a lot of clean channels and different amps, I just find them hard to use.

Anyway.. I ended up going with a B-52 AT-1216 Professional, and it sounds a lot better.

It came out of one of these:

After making the swap, I put the rest in all of my SS gigging amps. I think I'll hold on to the V-30s for another rig entirely. Thanks for the response.
