I just heard on the news that an 85 yr old nursing home resident brutally beat an 88 yr old resident to death on the dementia unit of an On. Canada facility. My sister in law works in the dementia unit of such a facility here. One day she came for a visit and her face was bruised and her arms actually had chunks of flesh gouged out by a violent resident.Despite pleas from staff to have this resident transfered to a facility for people with dementia and prone to violence they were told that it was there job to keep her from harming others even though they weren't allowed to restain her.It was only after this resident almost beat a bedridden patient to death and the victims family initiated court action against the facility was the offender moved. It's scary to think what goes on in some of these facilities and that management,in the interest of the bottom line, won't protect staff and residents from harm until it's to late and in such cases"I told you so." still falls on deaf ears.

We had a 70 year-old hit a 74 year old on line at the local cheap cinema back in 2002. the 74 year-old fell to the ground, and died 16 days later.

I can understand how something like this can happen, but it is a total shame.

It's amazing someone that age had the strength to lash out like that.
Could you find out what kind of meds he was on?

There was a story in the news yesterday about a sleepwalking guy beating the crap out of his wife of 10 years. The amazing human brain.
