Post subject: Scale Length question

It seems like most 25.5" scale guitars (various brands) are bolt ons, while the set necks, etc. seem to be more 24.75". Is there a construction reason for this, or just convention?

Just convention imo. Fender (bolt-on) uses 25.5 and Gibson (set neck) uses 24.75. And other brands pretty much base their designs and specs on one or the other.

Even some Gibsons like the Johnny A have a 25.5 neck and Fender has their set neck with the same scale.
