I am listening to Tab Benoit, reading the Forum, and eating chocolate chips. Now I may get in trouble from Mrs. Beaubs for eating the chocolate chips but I feel as though anything that is in the cupboard and containing sugar is a "fair game snack".

Could I have a ruling please?

Beaubs with the chocolate face

Are they Hershey's Special Dark chips?...love'em, and put them on pancakes, 8 seconds in the microwave, and then spread them all over the pancake.

Are you carelessly and recklessly endangering the manufacture of cookies?

if so, i have to rule against you.

Yes, I believe there was a "cookie motive" but the bag has been stored within sight for at least a month..there must be some sort of statute of limitations???

Oh most certainly. No more than a week tops. In fact when confronted you could easily turn the tables by claiming entrapment.

as a chocolate chip lover you are doing the right thing by eating and enjoying those delightful cookies, if the Missus should catch you, pucker up and give her a big kiss then tell her how wonderful she is and that you love her even more than you do the chocolate chips. Hopefully that will keep her from being upset with you :D

After wiping off the chocolate smudges of course ... so as not to be caught red handed, or should that be "chip lipped?"

Chocolate chips are fair game as long as you leave enough for your wife to use in her recipes or you replace the chips before she notices their absence. Good luck brush your teeth, and wipe your hands and mouth after ingesting to remove any evidence of your involvement in the missing chips...
