well it's gotten me thinking, what is the one guitar it would hurt the most to get stolen. i've lost guitars in the past to theft and fires though i do not know what i would do if something happened to this beauty

The point of this thread, What is your most precious guitar and what would YOU do if something happened to it?

I believe there is a law related to this somewhere

Ah here it is "If a musical instrument is being stolen it is within the victims legal rights to bludgeon the offender to death with said instrument"

What I do is to put my less pedigreed guitars out on display and hide my 2 babies. Also, if you dont have a security system, at least get the stickers security sevices give out and put them on your windows. Get a security camera, one with a nice glowing LED on it, and istall it in a conspicuous location. Leave a radio or TV on while you are gone. And hide precious items whem having workmen in your house. There are clever places to hide guitars in your home due to their thin profile.

Bait and switch, especially if it is known you have gear.

Its a Fender Telecoustic Deluxe. Discontinued now man. Not a bowlback like the Standard. Its like a normal acoustic, flat back and double bound. Here's a better pic of it for you:

Thats a pretty safe place for it. I thought about putting mine in my gun safe when I leave the house for long periods. A good safe provides a bit of fire protection too. I need to get a soft gig bag for it so it doesnt get dinged in there first

Controlling humidity in guns safes can be a concern too. Just something to look into. they are a great idea but you need to tweak them a bit. I have been considering one lately too, for guns too!!

My Am Std Deluxe. If im leaving my place for a a few days i wont leave it there, it goes to my parents house! First professional guitar, and im so far from being a pro, i dont really deserve it, but its teaching me all about the blues, and improving my technique. could lose my other two guitars, but not this one:

That being the case, a Telecaster would definitely be the way to go.

Well since I have quite a few axes of importance it would be hard to say as my 85 62 MIJ reissue which I payed $600 for new probably means more to me than say my Pink EBMM EVH which was almost 3K since only 200 were made. I just feel secure in the fact that there is always someone home and everyone knows my house.

My friend Mike who owns the store I hang in had his house robbed last summer by a crew who had committed 18 burglaries and had 4 guitars stolen, meanwhile if they went into the other room he had about 60 piled up in cases. His insurance covered the loss and the 2 guys and girl got pinched since they also robbed the guy on the corner that same night who happened to be a F.B.I agent so you know the cops really turned up the heat and they caught the girl using the agents credit card. But even though he got paid he has only been able to replace one of the guitars that were stolen. This is something I think everyone of us would dread.

I keep mine in a locked closet, as there is no room in either of my gun safes. (Burglers needn't worry about the guns locked in the safes...they need to worry about the one that isn't!) At any rate, a 120 lb malamute is also a good deterrent.

I caught some oik trying to nick the kid over the backs motorbike two weeks ago. Gave him a kicking and left him in the gutter. There haven't been any more breakins or thefts round here since. Which aint bad going here.

As far as my guitars go, I hide em. Not telling you where. I take my no1 with me usually. Well you never know what may happen. I usually keep a couple at my drummers house along with a amp. That place is like fort knox.
