I know this is going to be very telling about my age and my experience with some older music but I am watching The Last Waltz on VH1 classic right now and it is SIMPLY PHENOMENAL! I have never in my life listened to The Band but damn, these guys are super. I was really digging it without all the special guests, but then Muddy Waters was just on stage with them performing and now Clapton is up there. This is Super! Sorry but I had to share.

It's great isn't it?

The music is out of this world. Haven't watched it in ages, might fish my DVD out after Shameless tonight.

This is my first time seeing it, I never even knew anything about The Band to be honest. Glad I set the DVR now, I am going to have to check it out again when I have time. They seem like a real cool lot of dudes as well.

Even Ponce De Leon and Vasco de Gamma were preceded by others.

I picked up a DVD of Last Waltz at Walmart for $5 last year.

It's one of my favorite "music" movies... My favorite part is where Clapton's strap lets loose, and Robertson just pick it right up.

Being a big fan of Muddy, his was my favorite guest appearance. Even though he didn't play it was nice to see him cutting loose and enjoying himself in the midst of other good musicians. I imagine he was around 63 at the time and looked like he wasn't in the best of health but really getting into it.

Yeah, and Dr John is great too. He got the funk.

I love Claptons version of Further on up the Road in that. By the way Martin Scorsese directed that film for those who did not know.

Excellent movie! "The Band is just fantastic that is really what I think." Thanks for the reminder! It's about time to dig that one out again and go thru it.

Love Clapton's part, Joni Mitchell's coyote is top notch, Niel Young was in great form. Did anyone notice the white rock in Niels nostril when he came out? Easier to see on dvd.

It is pretty good alright but I always feel saddened when I think that Rory Gallagher was invited to play but did not on account of other commitments.

Perhaps if he did, his great playing would have reached a much wider audience.
