Keep after him,a promise made should be a promise kept.I have a similar situation, back in Dec. I wrote a tribute to Les Paul and sent it to Guitar Player and it was chosen as Letter of the Month in the Jan. issue. They were supposed to send me a Guitar Player T shirt and a Guitar Tool kit I waited 2 months and sent them an Email asking when I'd get it,they wrote back and assured me that it would be sent the first thing the next morning, so after over 4 months no sign of it.Time to send another reminder.

Write it off as a lesson learned. He's under no obligation to send you anything. I understand your angst at the broken promise. People are like that, even important people, and it's not worth having heartburn over it.

My 2¢ worth. Image

Absolutely forget about him, dont let it worry you. I wouldnt even mention it to him, or at the most say 'yeah no worries mate'.

I dont think you have much danger of being burgled by someone, them knowing your a vet and have more than likely had extensive weapons/survival training.

Hey and if the stuff rolls up in six months time then all the good. Some people are just no good at getting to the postoffice. I'm the worlds worst for it, ask Ceri how long it took me to send him that strat body. Theres a guitar to send to Alanssaab, a laptop to go back to medion, and about 7 other boxes waiting to go. All stacked up by the door. I've just got this mental blind spot when it comes to using the royal mail. There must be others like me in the world. Perhaps this guy is like that too.

Personal pride and decorum dictate that you must let it go.

Well - just look how long it took me to get around to doing something with it once it had arrived! And how long it has taken to finish it - we still don't know the final answer to that one!!

Snowy and Gratz could also tell you how long I take to getting round to repaying a debt. Doesn't mean it's forgotten though (guys)...

And regarding guitslinger's post, above: I also won gear for getting a letter used as the "star letter" in Guitarist magazine. Took them months to get round to sending the swag. But that's OK: it's not like I did anything to earn it...

I think Mr Taurus has it about right. ^^^

Cheers - C

As the owner of a company that makes guitar parts I would think that his word should be good as gold. But since it has been that long I would also question in my mind how he runs his business.

Personally I would let it go, and remember not to use his company for any parts that I might be searching for in the future.

I have CD's goin out to Martian and GO_ME this week and have e-mailed Binterz about e-mailing a track to ABS. As well as that I've had something for months I want to send to ABS by snail mail but I forgot.

Going to throw it in the post within the week with those CD's for the other guys though.

If you do receive the goodies, cool. If you don't, oh well. At least you didn't put out any money and get burned on a bad parts order or something.

Very true, I know I still go back to a hand shake was a closing of a deal or agreement as well. It was an honorable thing, not just a gesture.

What pisses me off about this, is the fact that this individual is a multi-millionaire who has made his fortune from guitar players like us. I was bought up to believe that when somebody tells you something, then you should hold them to it. It's called keeping your word! People who don't do that, are worthless in my book. You can have all the money in the world, but if you don't keep your word, then IMO, you have absolutely no value to me as a human being!

There's the answer to your problem.

Ed Mcmahon sent me a letter saying I won a million dollars but apparently the check is only worth 1/100th of a cent. Should I sue?

I Emailed Guitar Player yesterday and asked about the items they were supposed to send. They answered today saying that they had Fed-Exed it but it was returned as I gave a POBox No. and they only deliver to street addresses so I had to send my street address. With any luck I should have it in a few days.

Every common carrier i know of won't deliver to a P.O. Box. That explains the delay. Nice of the guy to follow through.

To be honest most people in that position deal with numerous individuals everyday and the most they go out of there way is to get there secretary on the intercom and have her do it. I really doubt you are even on his mind, but in a way I have to agree with Jay and would advise you to just let it go as you are going to wind up making yourself look bad.
