Is the pickguard for a CIJ Tele the same as for an MIA Tele? I'm thinking of putting a black guard on it to replace the pearl one. Will the holes line up?

Comparing my 60's re-issue CIJ to my MIA Standard they seem to be the same.

Is MIJ a reissue, as in 50's 5 screw? May not matter as long as:

1. The new pickguard covers the same exact area as the pearl, and

2. The mismatched holes in the new pick guard land over solid wood.

If so, you can make it work.

Good luck.

Wait. It's an 8 hole or you're calling me an 8 hole?

Are you ordering online, or can you actually hold the new pickguard up to
your guitar in the shop?

As long as it super imposes exactly over the old guard, it should work. The worst that could happen is the holes are very slighly off. Then you may have to fill the old holes before pilot holing the new holes in the body.

Good luck.

Taurus, I'd never calle you an 8-hole

I'll probably order on line; I noticed there are some official Fender 3-ply pickguards on ebay fairly cheap so I'll probably do that after going to the local Sam Ash to make sure it will fit.
