Not a big fan of downtuning at all. Concert pitch is the standard for a good reason. That baroque lot did enough damage with the introduction of other key brass instruments. Requiring music be scored differently for different instruments. The last thing we need in this day and age is a load of longhairs coming up with any pitch they like. Mustaine said it best, if you cant write a good heavy riff in A440hz then give up.

+1. It would have been helpful if Fender had put E flat on their VG Strat. I hate retuning a guitar for different songs...

I tried it way back when I first heard Hendrix, but put it aside, mainly because most everybody else tunes to 440,and really I don't find a need for it.
I never use a capo either....

The bar owner's counter-move ???

I don't know man... I wouldn't bit the hand that feeds me... If an owner wanted to play along to one song, I would allow it... Just pay me more...

Some Beatle songs were tuned down a half step:I'm Only Sleeping, Lovely Rita,Yellow Submarine.Yesterday was dropped one whole tone and Dear Prudence used a dropped D tuning(as opposed to an open D).

Played Eb in nearly every band I've been in. It all started with being a GN'R fan when I was learning as a kid and then just finding like minded musicians as I got older.

My Ibby is dedicated to Eb tuning, all kinds of stuff to play with there. My strat is standard tuning though.
