I'd bet anything that this kid doesn't have a clue about guitars or how to play them. You do.

My favourite guitar is the whole world is MIM. MIA are better but the MIM's are certainly good as well and in some cases, like mine, brilliant. I couldn't live without my 72 Tele Custom RI.

If you're happy, I'm happy.

Ever seen Lunasa? I wish they'd play Arizona.

Damn, now I need to find my copy of Genuine House Rockin' Music when I get home. The Dog was just a blast.

You can always tell him... "it isn't helping you at all... you have an American and look! you suck! so GFYS"

It doesn't matter what you have, as long as you like it and it fits your needs than don't bother with what some wanker has to say about your gtr.

You already won the moment that fellow even opened his mouth.

My philosophy for instruments goes something like this:
Play what makes you happy. And never bash others for what they play, because it's what makes them happy, too.

There's nothing wrong with the MIM manufactured instruments. They fit in at an easy to afford price point and up sales for FMIC.

That being said, I do think that they should be branded as something other than Fender (just like the Squier line)

I own MIA, CIJ, and MIM Fenders, I love every one of them. Each guitar gives me something different, especially the MIM. I'd ignore the dudes comment Stryder, as some have already said, it smacks of jealousy

so the other day i was jamming after school with a few of my buds and this kid walks in and says "nice strat, is that a Fender?" i say "yeah" he asks "how much did you buy it for?" i tell him around $430, he goes "wow that cheap?" i said yeah. He then asks if it was an American or Mexican and I tell Mexican, he then says its a piece of crap and not a real Fender guitar. So i proceed to look at the headstock, i see the Fender logo, the serial number, and the model number.

F**k that guy. Fender moved some operations to a different country. It's not like a different company slapped a Fender Logo on a non Fender guitar. Your school mate needs to get over himself. It's still a Fender.

Granted there is a difference in the features and how they are built. I don't like the necks on the MIM guitars. I don't like the fret wire used. Does that make them less Fender than the MIAs? No. As long as YOU are happy with them, who gives a s*** about what anyone else thinks.

1) Buy another MIM Strat...any nice color will do.
2) Using both hands, grab your old MIM Strat and hold it like a baseball bat
3) Find the idiot that made the comment
4) Using a nice even swing, hit idiot

Without a doubt, he will then comment on the durability of your Strat!

Haven't read everyone elses comments they're irrelivant to my comment.
Mexicans are fenders they are just the "budget" fenders.
Americans get the better set ups and a little more love goes into the build. thats it! a well set up Mexican is as good as an american for playing it just may sound thinner than you'd like cos it will most likely have colder pickups.

The guy who walked in giving you that crap, simple answer is use that good solid bit of fender craftsmanship to bust his front teeth out ...then you can say in future are those real? Doubt it ;D

Nuttin wrong with the MIM products from "FENDER"
Actually they are great if you want to interchange pickups in search of that elusive Holy Grail Tone.
The money you save can be used for pickups...

You should ask him what he drives for a car, that's if he even has a license and/or does he have to borrow the car from GrandMa...

Oh, yeah? Riddle me this:

Mexico is part of North America. So is the USA. Where would you rather be during an earth quake?

Exactly. I win again.
