I second cryingstrat. As others have said, and I believe I did, try out a few in the model you are looking for, most will be fairly good. The quality control is getting better each year, and I personally feel that many Epis are better built than Gibsons. Gibsons may have better materials and hardware, but not 6 times better.

However if I had the money I would buy a good used Gibson.
