I love looking at everyone's posts that have bands that I haven't heard of yet. Everyone knows the bands that are on the radio every five minutes. So, who do you like that's mainstream, had some hits, but maybe has been away for a while or hasn't had a new record in a few years? Is there a particular album or song of their's that now that you're older you appreciate it more?

To get us started I have been dialing back in to Gin Blossoms. Sad songs with an upbeat tempo. Good musicianship too. Check out their last album Victory Lodge if you enjoyed their 90's stuff.

I love the Gin Blossoms, they are an amazing band, New Miserable Experience is by far their best album.

To answer your question i like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Them Crooked Vultures, Nickelback, and Coldplay are among a handful of newer groups I like that are around today

You may be the first person I've ever heard admit to liking Nickelback...I know people buy the albums but if asked, no one seams to like them.

Yeah I dig the Gin Blossoms too...saw them and the Spin Doctors open for R.E.M. one year.

Right now I like The Killers...good songwriting and a great live show.

R&B should not go unnoticed on these threads, most of those Rock and Roll guys, do have R&B influences...

Stryder, it nice to meet a fellow Gin Blossoms fan. Seriously, check out Victory Lodge. Black Rebel Motorcycle club is awesome too. I just got my stepson who's almot 11 into those guys.

+1 For the Gin Blossoms who were in fact the last band I saw live. BB Kings 2 Summers ago took the wife and two sons and they were just totally kicking. This band should have been really huge as they were super talented and the whole band could write, was a fan the minute I first heard Hey Jealousy.

Totally agree Straycat. They are coming to my town in a month. Can't wait to see them live again. My wife hates anything but country (I know, it's rough) but she does like the GBs so it should be a fun night.

I'd have to say Chicago. Great group, great music, never gets old.
