I love looking at everyone's posts that have bands that I haven't heard of yet. Everyone knows the bands that are on the radio every five minutes. So, who do you like that's mainstream, had some hits, but maybe has been away for a while or hasn't had a new record in a few years? Is there a particular album or song of their's that now that you're older you appreciate it more?

To get us started I have been dialing back in to Gin Blossoms. Sad songs with an upbeat tempo. Good musicianship too. Check out their last album Victory Lodge if you enjoyed their 90's stuff.

I always liked The Cardigans,Nina Pearsson has one of the sweetest, most unique voices I've heard she has a new venture now with a new band but the name escapes me at the moment I believe it Begins with A. Also there was a band from Boston in the late 80s and early 90s called Scruffy The Cat,the lead singer Charlie Chesterman has started up playing again and his new music is supposed to be really great.Scruffy The Cat had a song-You Dirty Rat that was one of the absolute best rock songs I've ever heard and released an excellent CD called The Moons of Jupiter, they were probably the world's most sophisticated yet under rated garage bands.

Same answer I always give, the Mexican rock group Mana'...even though they are "mainstream" to everyone in the USA, but around the world they would be considered more mainstream, they've had lots of popular albums and songs.

So far as true mainstream...i'd have to go with...I can't even think of ONE mainstream or current band that I like. Pretty sad I guess. Unless Joe Bonamassa is considered a "band".

for an older mainstream Michael McDonald

newer mainstream: Linkin Park, Maroon 5, 311, Metric, SMT, Ozzy, how did Ozzy get in the new category? I pretty much like rock music just can't think of all of the bands at the moment but there is a ton of great music out right now.

Just bustin' your stones man. No offense. Sometimes you gotta have a little fun at the expense of someone else and hope they have a sense of humor. Next time... proofread your "profread"!

Damn typos! I hate when that happens!

Just my little attempt at humor.

They are a pretty awesome band. :)

It would be cool if Red Hot Chili Peppers got together and put out a new album again....

I've always liked Pearl Jam too. Versus is probably one of my favorite albums, along with Greenday's Dookie, Foo Fighter's The Colour And the Shape, and RCHP's Californication.

I love the Gin Blossoms, they are an amazing band, New Miserable Experience is by far their best album.

To answer your question i like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Them Crooked Vultures, Nickelback, and Coldplay are among a handful of newer groups I like that are around today

I never really been much of a mainstream kind of guy, but always did like me some Pat Benatar….

I don’t know if I would consider Metallica a mainstream band as they never had a song on the radio for the first 10 or better years of existence… are they an influential band…Yes but I don’t think I would call them mainstream
