Now that I've got the youtube uploading page kinda working, I would like everyone who opens up this thread to tell me what you think of my very bad playing :)

Heres a new one, I was just mucking around, I know it sounds like another song of mine (demo 2 I think), but this one has feedback :)

hey dude, first off, quit being hard on yourself. it's not bad at all. if i could offer some advice, i'd say turn the gain down a bit so you don't get as feedback. i too like feedback, but i have to careful with my gain and how close i stand to my amp.
it makes me smile every time i see a young person playing an actual guitar and not a video game. i needed a smile this morning. thanx

Riley,

Not bad at all. I agree to either cut back on the gain or move further away from the amp when playing. The only ther thing I would suggest is to to have a lighter touch when sliding up and down the neck playing different bar chords, I can hear you sliding around alot. I know it takes some practice to get it down, but overall I think you are pretty good. At times I can hear myself sliding arounnd a lot, just remember lightly touch when moving. Keep Rocking!!!!

I also remember you have a little dystonia in your right arm (?) and I am impressed with your skills.

One thing I will give you is that it takes a lot of courage to post videos of yourself online for all to see and critique. I have a bunch of videos of myself playing and wouldn't even begin to think about posting them for others to hear! Hell, I don't even allow people to rate my videos or comment on them unless they are friends! So I give you major respect for that.

But your playing is good, like others said maybe cut back the gain but that also seems to be a good sound for the style of music you like and like to play so don't cut it down too much if you think it lessens the tone/sound you want. I think your playing is good dude! Keep up the good wrk

Well, you are already too good for a lot of death metal bands. :)

I like that you are into bar chords. Don't loose the single unanchored strums, but consider anchoring your right hand on the bridge and varying your strums with some faster slashing. You can get tons of loud power out of that strumming position as well.

When I play live, I am not above throwing in a few Pete Townsend style jumps and windmills. I also strum chords up on the neck close to the chord formations as well.

Just keep playing, pal.

Hey Riley, good vids! You have that grunge sound that we know you love down pat. Sounds very raw. I think it's cool that you are making up your own riffs and having fun with them. Keep at it!

Not bad. Try to get the gain under control and work on your tone a bit. Try to get a little more bottom end and you'll get the squealing under control.

Black Cat Bone, what the heck is a Mojo tooth??? I know they're Willie Dixon's or Muddy Waters slightly different lyrics from "(I'm Your) Hoochie Koochie Man" but I think it goes I got a Mojo too. Don't take it the wrong way, I'm not mocking you or anything, you just got my curiosity up or maybe if it's just a different version I haven't heard.

Thanks guys, but just tell me why do people hate feedback??? I like it, just when its not supposed to make a sound then it pisses me off.
Oh by the way, for the people that say cut the gain and the feedback, well, its a bit hard to cut the feedback in my cramped room, i'm always close to the amp, and no way am I cutting the gain!!

Its the gain you should cut back on dude, not the feedback. Feedback is fine but its like a rabid snake, its to be controlled. Keep up what you are doing man and even though yourself and myself have had many arguments before as to who we like just know mate that I support you in everything you do and I'm always there for advice when you need me!

Keep it up lil bro!

i'm pretty sure it says tooth, i used to think it said too myself but then I did a little bit more research

--HUMAN TEETH have a long history of use in African, European, and African American magic. Just as the Skull is emblematic of the mind and the Fingers symbolize the grasping of money or facility in certain creative fields, so are the TEETH associated with biting, rending, or obtaining things through forcible means. Some folks use a HUMAN TOOTH in Mojo Hands or Tobies for luck in gambling.

--For luck in gambling:
Fix a mojo bag (either red flannel for success or green flannel for money) with a Lucky Hand root , a pinch of five-finger grass, a miniature pair of dice, and a John the Conqueror root. Add a dried bat heart or an alligator tooth or badger tooth or an alligator foot or rabbit foot. Anoint with red Fast Luck Oil, John the Conqueror Oil, or with the urine of your lover.

I could be wrong though and if so I'll change it. I looked up Hoochie Coochie man lyrics online and found it was different on every website.

Sorry to hijack the original topic though...

Always thought it was 'tooth' too, in relation to the 'bone'.

Excatly, and the feeback in the first vid was controlled. The camera's gotta crappy sound quality, so thats why you's all think I'm using to much gain, but I can garuntee you if you heard it in real life you'll say, "I thought grunge was supposed to be heavily distorted" :) .

Thanks again to all of your compliments :)
