Thanks for the link...not sure about compensation as of yet, it depends on what my passenger (mother-in-law) decides to do. Her right shoulder and lower back is what is hurting her.

There's the wrinkle, because the claim is actionable against both you and the other driver. Be sure that your underwriter will be hearing from that of the driver who hit you. Chronic LBP can be a nasty business and should this happen to her you don't want to have her getting hung up in a pre-existing condition situation. I know you're in health care so I don't have to go much further in this for you. Cover all the bases. Though the experience was responsible for my wife being an exremely aggresive plaintiff's advocate, the residual significantly impacted her quality of life.

I don't know how you feel about legal representation, but have it, and have it now. Document everything. My wife, a personal injury and med mal attorney for twenty years was a victim of such an event herself, while she was still in practice. Frozen shoulder, knee damage which ultimately led to a TKA last August after 15 years, and persistent, chronic neck pain. Soft tissue injuries are nearly impossible to document with clincial objectivity but the sequelae can be a personal hell which cannot be made part of the real life experience of a third party.
I wish you all the best in this.
Doc.

+1 Best wishes and don't be forced to sign releases prematurely.

A rear end collision can cause soft tissue injuries that may not manifest themselves for days or weeks after the initial impact.Seek medical attention immediately and get everything documented.Get MRIs bone scans or anything else that may reveal more serious underlying injuries. Also get a lawyer,,you'll no doubt need one as I dare say the woman who ran into you probably has engaged one already. In my 30 yrs working with car crash victims I've seen many injuries that turned out to be far more serious than they first appeared to be.So immediate investigation of your injuries are of the utmost importance.

Since I was stopped at a 4 way stop when hit from behind, I doubt the other lady is going to seek compensation, unless she wants to raise her already soon-to-be higher insurance premiums. The accident was obviously her fault. I do not plan on signing off on anything until I feel better...but great advice from all. As I mentioned, I will most likely see my physician on Monday if I get any worse. Going onto just past the 24 hours mark for the accident, I am not feeling that bad, no meds since last night. However, my mother-in-law has taken three doses of vicodin (rx for her arthritis) that she usually does not use unless she is in a lot of pain. I have advised her to seek medical attention asap.

I mentioned that she may have hired a lawyer as a pre-emptive measure in anticipation of legal action being initiated by you.She clearly can't find you liable for anything.Hope your injuries prove to be minor and temporary, best of luck.

RK-Forgive my mercenary tendencies, but get yourself a lawyer and dont sign anything. Get a thorough check up.

I got t-boned in Nov '08, then rear ended at the same intersection 3 months later. I'm just getting treatment this month. Seeing a specialist tomorrow, in fact.

Get well, but get treatment.

Gonna have to agree w/Taurus.
The simple fact is today folks are sue crazy........regardless of fault.
It happens to folks who have been in the right, and they lose for some reason...
It sucks but what are you gonna do but sack up and defend yourself.
Bullocks to the lawyers on her side.
JMHO
Like I said before, I called this a debacle.....I hope it is resolved quickly an in your favor._N 8)

I spoke to her insurance company yesterday and they seem very happy to start this process and take care of things. They know I have seen a MD and are sending someone to look at the damages incurred by this unfortunate accident.

I did see a physician yesterday and had to take 4 hours off work due to physician's orders. The doctor wanted me off work for 4 days, but had to plead with her to et me return back today. She did allow it; however, I am not to lift anything over 10 lbs with my left arm. I can comply with that.

The woman can get a lawer if she wants, bottom line is she rear-ended me while I was stopped at a 4 way stop. I doubt she can say anything to dispute this action judging by the damage to my rear bumper and her front bumper.

I really do not want to get nasty with this person, but I will if pushed. I am on a go with the flow ride right now, I am ready for the rough rapids if they arise.
