Hey Niki, just wondering how that delightful find you treated yourself with for your birthday is working out.

Would love a review if you can! Reason I'm interested is that I have the Hendrix 'signature' CryBaby that was based on this (even down to the cosmetics) and would love to hear/read about the real deal.

Cheers boss,

CC

I think that he's too busy up in that chopper checking out the volcanic clouds that are drifting over the U.K. :?:

Nick, while you're up there, how is the traffic on 95?

Sorry no lads, guitar heroes at the BBC has been on.

I couldnt compare them CC. It's a very different circuit. The modern Crybaby wahs just dont compare to the old Jen's/Vox's. The fuzz is quite weak and trebley on this pedal of mine. It's great for using with a already fuzzed rhythm sound to boost it for lead. Or maybe a fuzzy rendition of that Wild Cherry hit, Play that funky music. In truth I bought it more for my love of old pedals. I put my jen wahwah into a dunlop casing and that gets used 10 times more than the fuzzwah.

If your after a modern FuzzWah I dont think you can do better than the current fender one. £80 all over ebay at the mo'. Great soft wah with a really nice mid peak and the fuzz is controlable too.

Other than that I could ask a friend to build you one. He's building me my own spec fuzz with a notch filter, volume, tone and a fuzz control that goes from violin to meltdown. Germainium and sillycone (silicon) transistors in it for hard and soft sounds. Far better in his opinion than the bootstrapping used for fuzzfaces and tonebenders that produces all them bad harsh harmonics. I hear the difference in my mosquito octave fuzz. It cost me £60 and the one he's making it now cost the same. Dunno if he'll do a wah or a fuzz wah but i'll ask him. Why not go the whole hog and have a octave fuzz wah. I may suggest that to him, but if I do I want a audition for the band ok.

 You can come play with us anytime! The Hendrix sig isn't a FuzzWah sadly, just a wah but according to Dunlop's blurb its based on the Jen. How far that basis goes I couldn't tell you. I pair it with a Little Big Muff which I love.

Always wanted to try a Jen. How throaty does it get? I love a good throaty sound when wah and fuzz are paired. I must try the Fender one next time I'm in the city centre. I love the whole Hendrix she-bang of having octave/fuzz/wah goin on too. I may take you up on that offer next time I've got spare moneys y'know!

Thanks for taking the time Ninja-man. Much appreciated!

Hi Nik,I agree nothing comes close to the old Jens and Voxes,I have one of each a 69 and 66 respectively and they have a sound all of their own.

Guitslinger am I correct in thinking the trashcan inductor was a mid-late 70's addition in the wah's.

The fuzzwah has a trashcan too, but they were from the first 67 ones.

Hi Nik I honestly couldn't tell you anything about the components of the wahs.I bought my Clyde McCoy used in 69 and from research I've done 66 seems to be the most likely year of production likewise I purchased the Jen Crybaby in 72 and was told by the seller it was a 69.I wouldn't know a trashcan inducter to save my life I can barely tell a capacitor from a resistor.I know that they are both original except for the pots and the Vox has had the on/off switch replaced with an original replacement.

For your sake and that of a gazillion others, I hope they're flying by then. Perhaps you should think booking one of the 'Queens'.

There are a few good ferry lines that get you from Ireland to Scotland in 90 minutes so I'll be grand getting there Doc, cheers mate! :)

I know so many people who are stuck in some foreign land and can't get home and others who have had there holidays messed up and lost money in going to and fro through exchange rates. It's rotten!
