Me and my good friend who are also in a band together walked down the music store. Any way they on the way were talking about how poly finish don't "wear" over time. So my friend was gonna look for a tele with nitro finish in the store. We saw this tele onthe wall that must of been new. The store clerk told us the high way ones are now cheaper (699$) because the special is movin in. Any way, this guitar is AMAZING!! I think I want this telecaster...

The high way one tele is so great. First of all I hear it's getting discountinued. Why??? It's the greates guitar me and my friend had ever played! So what do you all think? Should the high way one stay? And should we find some way to get our hands on this axe considering the price?

In US dollars it was $699 when I bought mine. I say you can't go wrong with either the Hwy 1 Strat or Tele. I have one of each and will never be getting rid of them. I'd say play the Tele a few more times and if you like it go for it, for the price it is a super steal and a very very solid guitar. If you don't mind used guitars you could probably find one with light use on ebay or craigslist. Agree, the guitar is amazing. What color were you looking to get? Good luck and if you get it post pics!

Hi Will
Yeah the Highway 1 is a sweet guitar. It was replaced by the American Special. Did you try one of those??? I think MF still has HWY 1s available, but you better hurry

Bill

Yeah me and my buddy traded it back and forth for like an hour at lunch (we were sort late for school we played it so long). It was the sunburst one, so so so nice! We honestly coulden't put it down. It looked and played so great. My buddy might get a job just to buy it. Thanks for the craiglist/eBay type idea. If we run out of time and it gets sold one of us (me or my friend) might buy from another source.

I've had a Hwy1 Tele for about 6 years now and I love it ... unique sound compared to the AmStd Teles I have. It's a bit warmer and ideal for when I'm in those mellow moods. It has proven to be a very good value and a favorite over the years.

I absolutely love my Highway 1 Stratocaster. They are great guitars. I also like the American Specials, which are replacing the Highway 1's. Right now, if I had enough money saved, I would buy another Highway 1. However, by the time I have enough saved, I fear they will be all gone. The American Special does cost $100 more, but has some cool upgrades from the Highway 1. I will miss the Nitro finish, I hate shiney guitars. I always feel like I have to polish it instead of playing it.
