I've been offered a PRS Paul Allender at a pretty good price. It's a nice playing guitar and is actually quite a nice looking plank. Having never owned a Paul Reed Smith, I'd like to ask the board about strengths/weaknesses, etc.

PRS makes a qualify guitar there is no doubt about that. The problem most have that I know is getting on with the neck.

I really hate that you cant' adjust the intonation.
Aside from that, they look nice and play pretty well, though I don't think they are any better a guitar than what Epiphone is putting out and they cost more.
