I don't believe in relicing. I believe in the real miles that you will put on your Guitar over the course of it's lifetime, not fake ones. But Hey! That's only my opinion. :)

I was into relics for a bit last yearbut I've come around...it feels like cheating. If my strat looks like Rory Gallagher's someday that's sweet...but I want it to be my wear.

I say not to relic, but if you decide to have someone who does that for a living do it, unless you have time and money to work on it until it is perfect. I have seen so many bad self relic jobs and I couldn't imagine ruining a guitar or having to do it more than once until i got it right. this guy has some great looking relic work, if it was my Tele or guitar I would send it to him depending on your budget. I'd say have it done right the first time, and I couldnt insure if I was doing it myself it would get done right the first time

I don't like the idea of beating up my own axe to make it looked like I've played it forever. I'd be much more open to the prospect of beating up a guitar that wasn't mine, that could be fun ^^

It's all opinion, mine is I wouldn't do it. Let it happen naturally. I have a little "wear" spot on my Musicmaster bass' pickguard where I put my thumb, it's cool to watch it grow over time from playing.

But yeah, it's yours so whatever floats your boat.

Why dont you just give me $100 or $150 cash because that's the value of that guitar that you will lose after you start beating it up.

Relicing is the most moronic thing I've ever heard of.

No, wait a minute....the MOST moronic thing I've ever heard of is to pay extra money for a relic job.

Lets see....I bought this guitar for $500 new.....Im going to pay somebody $125 to relic the guitar.....relicing the guitars causes the guitar to be worth only $350.....So the relic job actually "costs" $275???

YUP....its moronic....

But listen....I'll cut you a deal...pay me $50 and give me a new hammer and I'll beat the crap out of that bass for you! :P

I'm with you. The whole worn out, beat up guitar fad is just ridiculous.

I have to agree with the don't relic stable. I think that an old guitar that's been played to death is pretty cool. To me that guitar has some major mojo and personality. That said I can't see taking a guitar that is in good shape and beating it to death as a viable option for me. You can't create personality. Finding a relic in a pawn shop would be fun but making one with power tools would be weird for me. Just my opinion.

I don't believe in artificial relicing. All guitars need to earn their "battle scars" honestly.

i must agree with the ANTI-relicing movement. I feel the natural age and wear on a guitar is the only acceptable method of it gaining personality.

Plus years from now if you want to sell it and you've destroyed it integrity you wont get top dollar for it.
