The Juno Awards,Canada's answer to the Grammys are being held in St. John's this week. The who's who of the Canadian music industry will be here all this week.Only one Newfoundland musician is nominated for an award even though we have more musicians per capita than any province. Our nominee is a young lady named Amelia Curran and she's being hailed as the female Gordon Lightfoot, she's a tremendous singer and lyricist. The Awards show is far beyond the reach of most musicians at $200 a pop I think that's quite unfair. One good thing about the awards though is that there has been no sign of Nickleback.

Oh Oh,I didn't know that,I really thought that their star had faded out, there's been no mention of them in the media here so hopefully we'll be spared from being blessed with their presence. You're right Billy Talent is far better than Nickleback could ever hope to be.Chad and his crew could learn a lot from Billy Talent.

Think of it this way guitslinger. If a bunch of people tune in to see Nickelback and one person finds some unheard of artist because of them then they're actually helping out Canadian music. My biggest question is that nobody will admit to being a Nickleback fan yet they still sell a pile of records and fill stadiums. Who are these mythical beasts that keep them going?

I think I fall into that same category. I like some of their songs but I don't own an album. Plus one of their songs is the theme song for RAW and it gets my little girl to dance around and yell HEY!!! a few time every Monday night so they're cool with me. Plus I'm from Alberta so I remember hearing them and seeing them open up for bands when they were just babies in the industry.

Saw that clip before. I'm not a hater, very strong word. But if they do come on the radio I change channel and if they come on in a club it's time to go outside for a smoke!

Sorry, only part of it seemed to enter into the hyperlink...anyway, I really don't like the music, but that group is pretty funny in the hatred some have for Nickelback.
