I've seen several of these Guild M65 3/4's for sale lately and damn they look cool. Does anyone here own one or has anybody played one? I am thinking about taking a leap and getting a 1969 model but wanted to get some feedback first. Anyone?

I believe that the M-65 has the same pups as are on the S-100,if so they are fabulous pups with much more bite yet much more warmth than the humbuckers found on Gibsons. The Guild humbuckers were the choice pickups of Rico on his earliest B.C. Riches and helped put his guitars on the map.

yes it does look like the same pup as the s-100 and they sound killer, I have played several DeArmonds with them in it and also an older T model Guild. I am wondering about the size...i know it is a 3/4 but i bet it would still have some nice tone to it. it looks like this one but it is a 65-69 with the newer guild headstock logo.

really tempted to go for it, reading over at the Guild forum they get super reviews and I'd imagine it would be a real fun guitar. I am a sucker for anything Guild USA.

Ended up scoring a 1973. Here are some pics pre-Setup. I should have it back tomorrow and the luthier was going to give it a light cleaning/polish and fretboard light polish. Sweet little guitar though, especially for the price I paid and the pup in it sounds super.

Lovely guitar,I was picturing as the 2 pup with the humbuckers but that looks like a single coil anyway it isn't the same pickups that are on mine.
I can't find a listing for the M-65, your guitar looks much like the Starfires but the Starfires have a Florentine cutaway but the same pup so maybe it's the replacement of the Starfire I that was discontinued in 64 because the colour is Starfire red.Anyway she should sound great.

this is the 3/4 student sized model, but I believe the body is the same size still. It is a single coil 2k pup, a DeArmond 2k according to a guy who is a Guild collector that I spoke with. The pup sounds really super. Nice and crunchy and crisp. Not too much static in the knobs either. The only thing I wish I could do was clean up the tailpiece a bit since it is chrome and has some weathering on it. I'm also going to look for a new case. I figure for $500 it was a nice little score. 8)

thanks! 8)

I should have it back tomorrow, looks like it is going to be a long day of playing guitar! Just something about a Guild, I am pretty sure at this point I am going to try to limit my GAS attacks to vintage Guilds and Telecasters...key word being TRY.

Nice score, BlackCatBone!

You're a patient person, to be sure. I'm afraid that if I were in your shoes, I'd be down at the luthier's place with my nose pressed to the glass like a kid at the candy store window!
