Has anyone taken a Strat or any Fender guitar with a 22 fret, modern (meaning along the lines of a rosewood board with the skunk stripe) neck, and put a 21 fret, classic neck (like from the 50's/60's) on it? If so, were there any alterations to be made, like the pickguard?

Don't do it bro! I love having 22 frets. I wouldn't mind having a 21 fret like the Fullerton '57 in addition. You can use all 22 and work it.

I'm not asking for opinions, I want personal experience of switching the necks on a guitar that has 22 frets to 21 frets, using a 60's era neck.

I'm not to sure, but I don't think you'll have any problems. A 22 fret Fender neck is just an extension of the fretboard (rosewood hangs off alittle at the end), the neck itself is standard length as far as I can gather. The scale length is all the same. There shouldn't be any interference with pickguard or anything like that.

I think this is what your talking about.

Here's a maple version and the only difference is you've got the 22nd hanging off alittle. As far as construction, it's more of an add-on than a totally new design.
