Allen Toussaint and Elvis Costello are close friends as per Costello's TV show. Wish I could be there to see them "Special Guest" each other's show.

:? Mmmm... The week of my birthday. Would be a nice vacation if I won the lottery...
What a line up... I was lookin thru the schedules and saw Clarence Carter. I saw him in the 80's and he was old then, but if he's still "strokin" more power to him...
I know that little Norse cutie Theresa Andersson has got to be in the mix somewhere. Watching that girl do her thing with the loop stations hurts my brain but I'm amazed none the less.
This reminds me of "Riverfest" a multi day event similar to this that i used to go to in Chattanooga Tn. but much bigger and more artists.

Thanks for the link Hop. If lightning strikes and I head that way I'll give you a shout... :D

Would love to catch Elvin Bishop's performance! He's one of the guit pickers that I've always appreciated.

Great lineup of performers!

Damn. Jazz Fest is one of the things that I miss the most about having been blown out of New Orleans by Katrina. And the food is the other...

Sitting around the fairgounds, eating Crawfish Monica, and listening to someone like Sonny Landreth....

Damn.

Yes, it's a real nice and relaxed atmosphere for sure. My friend was at one a few years ago and he looked up and Keith Richards was strolling around from stage to stage just checking out things. Nobody bothers the artist at all. No telling who you may run into down there. A lot of big names in this years venue. Hope I can get down there as it's only about 80 miles from my front door!!

For those who can't be there, and that sounds like most of us, local New Orleans community radio station WWOZ will be broadcasting live from the Jazzfest, including live streaming on the internet. You can check them out at wwoz.org.

No band practice for me next week, our bass player and his wife are flying out this Friday to N.O. for the festival and won't be back for a week and a half!
