Not to mention the fact that John Mayer is not mentioned on this list makes it immediately null and void! The NERVE of BBC! Hmmmf

This is nothing against anyone in there 20s but I think all these polls just like the one in RollingStone which has a big staff in there 20s are making them and really are not qualified to do so

The one person I am interested in is Matt Bellamy as he was on the cover of Total Guitar a few months ago as the guitarist of the Decade. To be honest I never heard the guy play a note. So now I am curios to see if I am missing out on something here.

No Jeff Healey?!?!?!?!?

actually given the source of the list, the only surprise is that Cobaine and Corgan weren't 1 and 2.

I didnt know Johnny Marr got so much respect. I do like his sound though and really liked the Smiths back in the day.

I don't get that one, either. Muse is an okay band, but the music I've heard from them has been mostly centered around keyboards. I really haven't noticed the guitar playing at all.

Tom Morello deserves it, he is one of the most underrated guitarists of the last 20 years. His playing style is different and use of effects is incredible to say the least. The tones he creates, the pencil smackin and the scratching are something you really have to see.

Many a novice have broken their switches trying to do his scratching..

Here he is rocking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qogtDaTwERU

Here he shows how he does a few of his tricks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDy6t1XZ ... re=related

As i stated, very underrated.

Muse is a good band but i wouldnt say the guitarist is anything special either, while the White Stripes are a great band but even still i wouldnt call jack one of the better guitarists either.

Now Greenwood of Radiohead and Morello of Soundgarden/Audioslave are worthy of this list imo.

I would have put Kurt Cobain on this list and certainly WAY ahead of jack white or the muse guy..

i would say there are a couple of influential guitarists there, but by no means are they the best guitarists of the last 30 years.
Its just the same as most polls. Its all about popularity and not based around fact. Could you see john frus..whatever playing john 5's version of sugar foot rag or matt bellamy playing one of bucketheads songs? erm no.....

That IS the guitar you are hearing. They are an effects riddled band.

Don't like them though.
