ok not new. actually an '01 ibanez gsr205 (pre "phat eq boost" thingy), but new to me, and in very good shape. a friend GAVE it to me. very cool. i ordered and now have two EMG-40DC humbuckers and an EMG-BQC 3band preamp. got a decent amount of router work ahead of me. a little scared since that is one of the very few modifications i have yet to attempt on a guitar or bass. not that scared tho, mostly just really stoked. finally have a five string. any tips from you vets for the road ahead? thanks.

I've done a bit of routing on guitar bodies and (against sound advice) always free hand my cuts. I've yet to have one go bad but the risk is definitley greater that sooner or later I will.

To get the skinny on how to route correctly, you should consult with forum member Ceri. He's a master and artist of all things wood!

nice one i still like a wee play of a bass now and then my daughter got a new epiphone viola bass a few weeks ago , very nice to play and she still has her old carlsbro p type bass as well , very handy for when the notion takes me
