Classic rock and blues for me. I'd like to try Grunk, sounds cool.

I play mostly classic rock and blues but listen to eveything! Blues for me is really fun to play because it's easy to jam with and sounds amazing!

As for my bass playing style it self I'm a mix of Jack Bruce and John paul jones I guess. Almost a Motown funk sound with a very bluesy sounding rythm.

Obviously I can't truly compare my self to those two! They are two of the greats!

I would say that my style is a cross between Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh...classic rock sort of.

I play a lot of Hendrix,Beatles, blues and alternative so I guess you could call my style Blues/Classic Rock Fusion.

What is my style? Hmmm...

No offense, but I suck. I suck so bad I don't even have a style.

Is "I suck pond water" a style?

As I've said before... progress comes in baby steps. I try to pick my notes and chords clean, but that's not always how it seems to work out. I'm not really into a lot of distortion so it covers all my mistakes and sounds like faux shredding. I like all kinds of music so I can't say blues, or classic rock, or grunge, or whatever. I'm always looking for a decent song that's easy to strum or pick. Then I tend to beat the heck out of it until I almost know it.

I don't know how to define my style. The band I'm in plays just about every genre. We play weddings and corporate events, concerts and some small clubs. The expected audience determines the setlist. I try and get the same tone/feel for the song I'm playing as the original recording. We will literally go from Folsum Prison right into Sey Hey or Sweet Child of Mine or Sweet Escape then jump into Cupid Shufffle or Electric Slide then into Honky Tonk Woman to September. If you look at our song list on our website you'd see the range of stuff we do. www.thissideup.us It sounds odd but it works. We even play the Grease medley you might have heard on the radio. I've seen biker dudes singing along with that. 8)

So the style is pretty much whatever the song is.

I play in a Rock/Blues vein but if I like a song be it Jazz ,country or metal I will tackle it. To be honest I am no shredder so I spend a lot of time working on those techniques just for the hell of it. Always keep the bar high and you will continue to grow. But you are at an age where you feel this is some kind of competition which it is not. I will never put down another player and have also seen many guys go from barely being able to play to being a fretboard wiz in two years. There is nothing like the rush of hanging with a few guys and making good music.

I'm not really sure ... it's a mix of the music I grew up with (big band era and classical; my first instrument was violin) and then the "modern" folk, Appalachian folk and rural acoustic blues I got into after I'd started to learn to play. Now toss in a little jazz influence (derived from big band) and you have my playing style.

Most people who who've heard me say that it's not very rock-like and definitely not metal. My blues can resemble electric blues but more often revert to pre-electric styles. I can bang out a semi-credible country sound if I think about it and don't have to pull it off all night.

Those make up most of the music I listen to and when I improvise or write something it sounds like a combination of them
