Yesterday we had one of our bi-weekly rehearsals at RinkyDink studios in Belfast.

I was at my Mums house in County Down and decided to get the bus up but I'd heard our other guitarist Binterz had been on a drinking session the night before so I got off the bus in a crazy rain storm at his house a few stops before the studio with my 72 Tele Custom RI snug in her G&G Fender Deluxe case in one hand and my BOSS BCB-60 containing my pedals strapped over my shoulder. The rain was crazy!

Anyway, after locating guitar-man we walked the rest of the way in the rain, got to the studio, got the DeVille out the store cupboard, fired her up. All good there. Took my guitar, 'Lexi', out her case and put her on a stand, all good there too.......opened up the BCB-60 - WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!

The case had been letting rain in the whole way and 2 of my pedals, my EH Small Stone Nano and my EH Little Big Muff Pi were soaking!!!

Have had them drying for a day, the phaser is fine now but the Muff is giving a shotgun sound when switched on, tried it with DeVille, Champ 600 and even my Acoustasonic 30. Shotgunning every time. Whats even worse is that it sounds completely different too. Its TOO fuzzy now and not in a good way, crackly sounding with less sustain and it isn't the wall of noise I bought it for anymore.

Any ideas guys, it's beyond warranty and I am useless with electronics. I love that pedal!

Cheers,

CC

If I leave it longer will it fix itself or have I potentially shorted something in trying it out earlier?

It's certainly a possibility that firing current through it while not quite dry would send it to an early demise. I'd let it sit a while and reload later.......... 8) Mike

Last summer I left the wireless extension phone out on the deck and we had a torrential rain storm,I let it dry out for a week and it worked fine when I recharged it.I put it in a sealed plastic bag with a disecant in and placed it in the sun for the last day just to make sure it was completely dry.I wouldn't use compressed air as that may drive moisture deeper into the components.

Hey C.C. remove the battery if any, and give it a few minutes of hair drier. Repeat as necessary. Unless you are 100% sure that it is dry, don't plug it. Good luck. :)

Thanks guys, I'm going to try all those things! I appreciate the replies.

I hope it sorts itself, I use it as my boost and also for when Binterz takes any leads, I drop behind with a 'wall of noise' and his signature tone rides above it perfect. I don't really have the 60 quid going spare to buy another just yet.

[EDIT]: I don't have a battery in, the BCB-60 powers them all except my annoying, noisy EH Nano Clone which can't be daisychained. Maybe I should pour some water on that one, it might end up better!

Stick it in a bag full of dry rice for like two or more days

fine :)

Riley: Thats the point though, BOSS's BCB-60 should have been water proof and protecting my pedals. Thats why I bought it. Its a pedal board case with on board power and should not have been letting in rain at all. If you pay for protection you want protection.

Alan: Cheers mate! I appreciate that very much. I'm off to take my niece out for the day and will leave the heat on with the pedal there and test it when I get home so I'll get back to you on that.

Cheers guys,

CC

I once dropped my cell phone in a creek and though I had screwed myself pretty badly but it turned out well. I held it out of the car window on the way home to get some wind in it (probably a bad idea) and then opened it up and put it in front of fan overnight. When I put it back together in the morning and turned it on it worked just fine.

Hi CC,
You've got a BCB- 60 ? Are you running that through the front of your amp
or through the send/return? I was just wondering because I have one of these in my storeroom
and I used to just run it through the front.
If I remember right, you plug your guitar in one end and it comes out the other and into your amp.
Just wondering if you can use the send/return.
Cheers mate,
Rhumba

BTW the hair dryer idea sounds good, I've used that before on my stuff.
