E flat more than anything else. Growing up a GN'R fan was what did it and as such it's turned out I can sing better with a guitar in that tuning and most bands I've played in have already been at that tuning so it hasn't really changed much except for two bands I joined which were in standard.

When I'm sitting round the house it's usually the acoustic in open G as I've been playing a lot of slide lately and I prefer it for finger picking too when I'm just chilling out.

I used to tune to E flat all the time, and when did the coffee house solo thing years ago I used to do some Donovan songs in a dropped D tuning.

Usually standard these days, though in playing days I'd often tune to E flat or occasionally even D to get my half baked version of not really quite so blinding speed.

The only permanent exception is that I have my Squire Tele tuned to open G for slide playing.

Standard tuning or dropping down a half step is really the same to me and I dont consider it an alternate tuning.

DADGAD or open G are alternate tunings I enjoy.

The only time I stray from standard is if I'm in a Stones mood.

I used to avoid alternate tunings as a younger man. I always felt it was cheating but a couple years ago I started fooling around with DADGAD and I find I like the sound. I still can't shake the idea that I'm cheating but whatever.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Depends on what you are playing though. I don't play easier versions of what I play in standard or e flat in an open tuning if thats what you mean?
Open tunings give me a whole other style that I never explored before and come to think of it I haven't translated any songs from one to the other.
