I have one Fender Stratocaster, and until or unless I learn to play it properly, I will not need another guitar. 8)

I'm like BigJay as I don't "need" any. I do own a Tele and a Strat. I would like to add a good semi-hollow bodied guitar to go with them.

I actually own a few more guitars but my children have claimed them and taken them home!! :?

I've got my beginner's Squire for travelling, and an American Deuxe Strat so that I can't blame the guitar when I'm practicing. Technically, that's all I need, because the strat's pretty versatile. I'm focusing on rock and blues right now.

On my interested list, I figure that to be able to access all the forms of music I'd like to, I'm looking at:
1 decent acoustic
1 24 fret, dual humbuckers (preferably with coil tapping) shredder
1 semi-hollow jazz/blues.

Not that I'm planning to get those anytime soon; first I need to learn to play metal, folk, and blues.

Oh, and if I ever got into country, I'd have to throw a Telecaster in there, too, although the strat would probably do alright.

This is a spin off of the "How many guitar do you have?" thread.

Lets be honest. We don't NEED 30 guitars. How many do you honestly think you need? I could probably be ok w/ 5. 2 electrics....1 w/ tremelo and 1 w/out, a good steel string A/E and a nylon and like a 5 string bass. 6 if you count an A/E mandolin. That being said, I don't think I'll be selling any anytime soon. I reached 15 (17 counting mandolins) and kinda feel like I'm done. There's only 4 more I'd like to get and I could part with 2 from my collection.

If it has strings it's for me.
I didn't include my piano, my keyboards or my banjo and mandolins.....etc.
Yeah, I have a problem.....the first step is to admit it...lol.
But I honestly don't give 2 sh**s what anyone thinks. It isn't a contest.
I don't do it to brag or boast. I collect Hotwheels too.

I don't need anything. But I need a guitar around me.

This is a hobby as well as a obsession/passion for me. I LOVE GUITARS!!!!!!!!!!!!
While most 16 yr old kids were buying cars. I was still driving not legally..........lol ... I was collecting and playing guitars and basses.
I enjoy this hobby.
It could be worse.
Could be drugs.
Could be serial murder.....

I've pretty much reduced my collection over the past several years to what I think is my bottom line essential core group.

2 Strats (1 SSS, 1 HSS),
1 Tele,
1 LP,
1 pro grade acoustic (with electrics) for performance and
1 cheaper acoustic for the campfire.

My next task is to reduce my amp collection.
6 amps for 5 guitars seems excessive to me.
I'd like to get it down to at least 4, maybe even 3.

GAS doesn't usually bother me anymore unless it's something I haven't tried before like a mandolin or banjo.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
