Hello Fender Forums,
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Its been a while since I've been on here... But I am in need of some suggestions...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For several weeks, I hadn't played my guitar much, if at all... I just never really had the time. Now that I do have the time, however, I just don't have quite the drive I used to, I still jam a little every now and then but its just not the same... So, what do you guys suggest I do to get back to the way I was? I really miss it and am in need of help!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--Thanks!

Buy a piano or a bass or a banjo or something, that way you'll miss guitar and go back to it eventually. 8)

Concentrate on your tone and experiment with new ways to find your own voice.

Find a buddie to get together and jam with. Playing (guitars) :D with others makes you a better player as well as its just plain fun!

The most important thing to do is set a couple goals, to keep you motivated.

Don't touch them for another week. During that week have a few beers and watch some of your favourite concert DVD's, listen to your favourite guitar albums and go see a few local bands.

Polish your favourite guitar up and leave it where you can see it, on a stand or something but DO NOT touch it.

After a week of that you will be chomping at the bit to get it in your hands again and play it.

You don't necessarily have to buy a new guitar-although that would help- but you could just buy an effect that you always wanted. When I got my 1st Electric Mistress flanger in the 70s I stayed in the music room for hours a day experimenting with it.You could also listen to some music that inspires you, whenever I hear Voodoo Child I have to pick up a guitar after.

Treading on a path you've been down before can be tedious and boring. Try a different approach, maybe a new genre you always wanted to experiment with, just mix it up. Once you open your mind to all the possibilities at your fingertips, the groove will be easy to find.

For me what gets me going again is seeing a great player play a song. I find it inspiring to see a great player knock out a song that looks completely effortless. It will come to you. Best of luck!

Man, I am in the same place as you are. Except I haven't played in 20 years!

So I did the obvious: I bought a new Standard Strat and a Frontman 25R. I might even take some lessons cuz it's been so long. 8)
