I was watching a show called That Metal Show and they had someone talk about the "Rock and Roll Hall of Shame." That got me to thinking about some of the bands out on the circuit right now.

Which ones that are in the Hall of Fame DESERVE to be there? :) Which ones don't deserve that honor? :?: :?

Also, which bands out there deserve to be in that Hall of Fame? They could be the most underrated :o or just a big name band that has a crappy string of luck or something. However, the second part of that question is which bands out there that aren't in the Hall of Fame DON't deserve the honor???...

Any band counts. 8)

I agree with adding Rush, Yes and Deep Purple. I would also add:

Jethro Tull
Electric Light Orchestra
The B-52s

Looking at it from the very narrow view of "the Metal show", I can understand those picks. Kinda.

From a "Rock" standpoint, they are all important parts in the evolution of 'the rock sound'.

Heart : Hello? Barracuda anyone?

Yes: Adding classical complexities to the 'normal' repetitiveness of Rock music. Declared dead and resurfaces with "Going for the one". Declared dead and resurfaces with "90125". More lives than Dracula.

Tull: The anger and drive of the whole Aqualung album?

ELO: Danceable vocal harmonies of many of their songs (obviously not at all important to Metalheads). Don't bring me down by declaring them shameful.

Deep Purple: Almost a one hit wonder band, but Blackmoore's guitar playing? Hardly shameful!

Maybe not everone's cup of tea. All great and deserving in their own way.

I think everyone is giving names of bands who deserve the fame, not the shame. At least that was my intention. For the record, Jethro Tull is my favorite band ever. 8)

I am a moron, didn't read the original post thorough enough, and of course you are right! Obviously, all of those deserve the hall of Fame!

Blue Oyster Cult and Pink Floyd.

I could have done without any other music except for them when I was growing up in the 70's-80's.

Madonna is in there?? :x She is a disgusting old hag who needs to be removed from society. "I'm Catholic," "I'm British," "I'm Kabala," "I (pretend to) play guitar." I hate you, Madonna.

Randy Rhodes needs to be there by himself. Not as a part of any band he was in, but just as Randy.

The acts should be voted in by the public and not by the critics or Jann Wenner. This way, we know that whoever does get inducted in, is truly worthy and has earned the right to be in the Hall.

THE NUGE!!! I am not a fan of Rush, but I will have to agree with you all. They do deserve a spot.

Every Hall of Fame has people who don't belong in there, and people who should...I mean why is Pete Rose banned from baseball just because he bet on games, meanwhile Mark McGwire shot steroids, lied about it, cheated on the game and the fans by doing so, then only admitted to doing it recently so he could get a job...To me, what McGwire did is worse than Rose...so yeah, Pete bet on games he was coaching or involved in, but at least what he did on the field was accomplished without performance enhancing drugs...yet he is banned from baseball. McGwire lied many times about steroids, but yet he is not banned from baseball, and is now coaching in major league baseball?

To me, thats crappier to me than bands like Blue Cheer and the MC5 not getting into the RnR Hall of Fame....

The rock and roll hall of fame has turned into a joke... It's now a big greedy business that enters artists based not if they are rock or not .. but if it will help the bottom line...

Madonna is a very significant artist for music in general... But not a rock and roll musician...

Rush needs to be in there.. no doubt...

Abba were tremendous. They pretty much invented modern pop.
Their certainly far more influential and important to modern music than anyone else I've seen mentioned here bar Jethro Tull.

Thoroughly deserved place.
