Hi Purple, you're right about Guild,I have an S-100(SG type body)that was the guitar used by Kim Thayill of Soundgarden and it's an absolute screamer when put through a cranked Marshall. The S-100 has a phase toggle for the rear pup that really adds to the punch,it has way more raunch than an SG but can also sound twice as mellow for jazz stylings. The Guild pups were used on early BC Richs as Rico thought that they had the best tone available for his guitars and that speaks volumes about their sound.I could see these guitars giving Gibson a run for the money if Fender/Guild rereleased them or some of the other excellent guitars they produced in the past.

I never had the chance to try an S-100, I only know it from being used by Kim Thayil. I was thinking mainly about the Starfires, since we were talking about hollowbodies (Buddy Guy and Lightnin' Hopkins were early adopters in '62-'63). And I have a very soft spot for the Bluesbirds, ever since I saw a couple of 2000s reissues.

If you want a Coronado now's the time to get one as they're starting to go up in value on the collectors market, the unfaded Wildwoods are going for $3-500 more.A 2 pup Coronado should cost you $1,200-1,400 however I've seen them going for much more than that. The Coronado was another love it or hate it guitar.I've never played one but if one came along I'd buy it just for the novelty of it,especially a Wildwood.

Evening Gents! :D

The Starcaster thread and petition are going very well at the minute. There is a little bit of misinformation on the other thread regarding the price point, although after reading that, i can now see what Mike Eldred was thinking at the time over at HC.

The $3050 was mentioned by myself, because i was scared of talking to the BigGuns quite so early on in the petition. I wanted to reach 1000 signatures first which i have not ..... yet;)

More info to come soon, im at work :D

Thanks to all the signers for your support!!!

Any time an influential musician picks up an old bit of gear and uses it prominently in the production of some great music there will be a surge of interest. In the case of the Starcaster it's radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, who has been favouring it over the last album or two. He produced the same gear lust with the Tele Plus, and between him and his bass-playing brother Colin they've sent DOD 440 and Shin-Ei FY2 prices through the roof... I'm afraid I'm as susceptible to the phenomenon as the next radiohead fan... :)

(well... if I had the spare cash...)
