Hope this is okay here since it's not Fender!

I'm wondering what everyone prefers for effects. I bought a 535Q Crybaby and a Phase 90 the other day. I like both so far, although I feel like the Crybaby gets way too quiet in the heel down position.

Do you prefer MXR, Boss, Ibanez, or something else? And why?

Also, how do you guys run your effects chain? I tried the Phase 90 from the guitar to pedal to input of the 5150 combo and didn't get much out of it. When I put it in the effects loop instead, it sounded awesome! Guess how you set everything up makes a big difference.

Anyone know anything about the MXR Dyna Comp? What about the Ibanez Tube Screamer. Is there a lot of difference in the TS models?

I am a newbie to pedals but I do have one observation to share..

I tried some drive pedals and I thought the Ibanez Tube Screamer was much better than both the Boss Overdrive and Blues Driver... Just my opinion..

I use all three brands you listed. It depends on the effect that I want when deciding which brand to buy. I also use some so-called boutique pedals. My advice is to try them all and pick out the effect/brand of pedal you're looking for. Don't limit yourself. Try,try, and try, and you'll find your tone!! :)

I am with fhopkins on this one. I like certain pedals by certain companies and my pedal board is brand mixed. Why is there this feeling to use one brand for everything?

Me three!!!……. Only problem with the try, try, try, is there are so many manufactures now and so many pedals on the market these days this could be a monumental undertaking to do so….. BUT that is the fun after all right?...... sometimes the journey is more important that the destination….

Cheers
Bill

I use boss, ernie ball, tech 21, ibanez and electro harmonix. As its been mentioned before it depends on what your looking for in effects to determine which brand suits you for what effect. I am currently looking at mxr for an effect though as they have such a good reputation. This goes back to the whole fender topic before about having fender guitars, amps, strings, picks etc. It is ok to buy different things by different brands and not just stick to one.
