My son was complaining that his shoulder was hurting from the weight of his strat. Then a few days later we at the store in the automotive section and I saw these shoulder strap cushions for seat belts. About 10 inches long, nicely padded, assorted colors and less than $3. Got one for each of us. Took a couple of seconds to put on and made a world of difference.

Steve Harris from Iron Maiden does something similar. He uses cushion both for the shoulder and he complained that his hair would sometimes get stuck in his strap. Some of the strapcushion he uses are made by his mum.

Strap width makes a bigger difference than cushioning.. The wider area helps to distribute more evenly the weight to your body...

I use these with my ES335 and Les Paul Custom (10.5lbs)...

They are expensive but worth every dime.. They are the highest quality strap you will find hands down...

I have several of these. They're quite comfortable.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I've thought of this before but thought that it would slide around too much. I just might give it a try now. Thanks for the confirmation of it actually working.
