Anyone else's wife addicted to facebook but can't understand why you log on to the forums on Fender? I have this conversation almost every night before bed. I log on once a day for about 5 minutes but she is on almost every hour, work, home, etc. ha ha.

Just curious.

Mhainz,

I checked out your link. I am a blues fan who is trying to learn how to play the blues. Any suggestions on where to go to get good, possibly free online blues lessons? (other than youtube)

Thanks!

Facebook's dumb I reckon, but I've still got one.

This site wins by far

I'm on both sites equally, bouncing back and forth between Facebook and the Fender Forum. 8)

I cant stand FB like i cant stand a effing hole in the head as I'm sure many would say the same about me. Wife has one but I refuse to participate in that downward spiral of mankind where people feel the perpetual urge to update every insignificant moment of their life on Cyberspace.

but that's just me.

I am totally with you guys and for the life of me cant stand FB. Maybe I should make it a bit more clear. I think it is fine for teenagers or singles but anyone who is married or even my idiotic friends who are in there 30s and 40s I just totally abuse.

Not everyone I know is a musician and some have gotten so into FB that this is the only way they communicate anymore. For instance, last weekend I was with a bunch of people I hang with often on Saturday afternoons.

Two have gotten so addicted to FB that they don't even update you on what's going on in their lives anymore. "All on my FB page and/or blog" they say "you can read it all there." So do you cut them out of your live or bite the bullet and join FB just to keep up with people you know?

Some people take tech way too far I think. They've forgotten how to say anything face to face ... if they can't text you with it and you won't read it on their FB page ... they don't know how to address you anymore. And in my circle of friends, I'm talking about people in their 50s and 60s!

In that context, the Forum is far more useful and worthwhile ... we can't all meet face to face to share what we know, etc. It goes back to news groups and why such things were created to begin with.

Never used any of those type of sites, you'ld be just as well going up the main street shouting your business to everyone, I'm having a party, I'm going on holiday, I'll be working away from home etc etc sure way to get your home invaded of burgled as has been the case I'm sure.
Fender Forum only for me.

Exactly! People draw the shades, demand privacy and then ... post it to the entire world on some social networking site.

Is it that we've become such an anonymous, don't care world that people are willing to give up privacy to get attention? You have virtually no privacy at work (US laws, court decisions; can't speak for other countries) and now you hand over what little you have left in your personal life?

Or ... is it just that most of the world always would have been happy to tell all just what they thought ... provided that they didn't have to do it face to face. In some respects, I guess, social networking isn't much different than what people did over the back fence back when.

i log in regularly at two forums... this one and the classic mustang forum... this one because i'm a guitar player, and the other one because i own a classic mustang.
as for how many "friends" i actually have? they show up at my door from time to time, and i return the favor frequently.
want to know who your friends are? see who shows up on moving day :)
