Now that I've thought about more (without over thinking lol) I'm just going to go back to same store. It's closer, and if anything the people who saw me last year will be surprised. I've actually been practicing. And if I run into that same guy who was so ticked off last year, oh well. It's not my problem that he's still ticked off.

Hi Tex, what do you think of the new added tracks? I'm thinking of trying the one with the B.B King vibe. Last year I played, laid down blues with my Tele. Thinking of using my Strat this year. Would be cool to see a Fender Forums Tee-shirt at the finals. Best wishes to you. :)

Thanks, you too. :D I like them, and the one like B.B. King is really cool. There's also one with is sort of a standard shuffle in E, I like that one too. I'm not sure which track I'll do this year, but you can bet that it won't be Little Girl Shuffle again. I'm burnt out on that one.

Well, it's a little over a week until the first prelim! I think I'm going to either do "Still in Love", which was that new jazzy minor blues thing or "Classic Stop-Time Blues" which has a nice shuffle feel. The minor blues is completely out of my comfort zone, and the other is totally in my comfort zone. On the minor blues what I'm thinking about playing is really out there, I don't know if it's too jazzy or not.

Has anyone else signed up yet? And if you already did what track are you thinking about playing?

Man, thanks Miami Mike! i jumped on the link you posted and i'm now the proud owner of 2 cd's full of SMOKIN" blues backing tracs! 30 0f em' which will provide me with some serious practice tools. That group of tracks has a heck of a lot of different styles of blues to learn! It's the best bunch of backing track i have ever seen, and for free, is just insane! Iv'e been looking for decent backingtracks for a while with no luck whatsoever, so if anyone knows of any good sources, any decent style of music, please let me know!

You are the one Texas, I can't remember either of those 2 songs (I'll try youtube maybe there is a version) you will play them great though, how many prelim's are there?

There are three prelims, each with ten people playing (if enough people signed up and show up). Out of those ten the top two move on to the store finals. So there's six people at the store finals. The one that wins moves on to the district finals. There were about twelve district finalists last year. I really hope I can make it at least to the store finals, so I can play twice. :)

I've decided to the "Classic Stop-Time Blues". It's a shuffle in E, fairly basic. Right in my comfort zone. The other one turned out too jazzy. I'll finish it later just for fun.

Yeah, that's the track I'm playing over. :) It came together in two days. Last year my song took me two weeks. I wonder if that means I'm better or just more lazy.

Hoping my fingers work well on Thurs., Playing at the Boston G.C. Haven't had time to practice, swamped with much needed side jobs. People using tax returns for electrical up-grades. Hope I go last, so I can hear the amps being used. Haven't had a chance to try them out. Good Luck, TEX !!!

Well, I got third place. :D Unfortunately only the top two move on. I thought I could have done better, but I freaked out a little bit and played more sloppy than normal. I would have had a video, except that my Dad's camera went out on him and he only got the last half.

I got a free Fender T-Shirt. They did sort a trivia thing where whoever answered the question first got the shirt. The first question was "He is known for his upside down Strat..." And my hand shot up before he finished the sentence. And it's a small shirt so I can actually wear it, last year all I got were extra large shirts.

How was it for you Dutchy?

Half asleep this morning, just submitted new post. Had fun, some real good players out there. Winner knew how to work the crowd, he did a great job. I think the second place winner was awesome, but didn't work the crowd as well. I came in third place too. It was fun, I have to learn to loosen up a bit. I'll try again next year. :D

TGS and Dutchy. Congrats on your results. In these types of contests audience response is as big a factor as actual ability. Stage presence is a must have. I'm looking forward to next year for both of you...
Some classic guitar face for your enjoyment...
