Guitar Center has already announced the King of the Blues contest for this year! It's earlier now, last time it was in August. There are some new tracks this year too, which is good because last year it seemed like three or four were really popular and no one played anything else.

I plan on signing up sometime in the next couple of days. Right now I'm going to go get practicing. :D

I saw that today too. At first I thought has it been a year already? Now it makes sense. I wonder why they changed the dates?
Anyway, good luck again. 8)

Yeah, I spotted the poster in Guitar Center a few days ago and immediately thought of you. I'm glad you're competing again. Knock 'em dead, Becks! 8)

You got a lot of votes on here, if it was up to us you'd be straight to the finals!
Good luck, practice hard.

Looks like many of the same jam tracks. The swing one seems new :

I think they've kept all the backing tracks from last year and added five new ones.
The new ones are,
-Slow Blues
-Still In Love
-Talkin' My Baby Down
-Workin' Class
-110 in the Shade

Bummer, I hate it when stuff like that happens. :( Last year I would have had a summer job helping kids at music camp, but you had to be 17 to do it. I turned 17 the day after the camp was over.

Good luck TEX!!! I tried 3 times, almost made it past the Danvers, Ma. store. Played clean, straight thru the amp all 3 times ( everyone used pedals at that store). This time, I'm gonna get a little dirty, I'm even changing up location. Gonna try the Boston store, which is closer to me anyway. Hope to meet you at the finals, that is if these younger, talented girls and boys don't out do me again. :)

Well, tomorrow I'm going to go sign up. But I can't decide which store to sign up at. Should I go to the same store I went to last year and won at? Or should I go somewhere else? The store I won at last year is a very difficult store, it's sort of the central Houston store and it's a hotbed of great musicians. It's the same store that the guy who won nationally in 2007 started out at. I think that the other stores in the area could possibly be easier than that one, but I don't know. And maybe if I went back to the same store I'd be hurting my chances just because people may think that because I've already won there that it's time for someone else. It's just human nature. No one really wanted to see the Colts win the Superbowl again, most people wanted New Orleans to. Maybe I'm just over thinking this. And I hate thinking this way because it's really not about winning... But last year I had no expectations, and this year it feels like there are even if they aren't coming from me. It's a very weird feeling.

Texas, which store you choose should be the store you can get to easier, most people over think a bit, it is normal when trying to be your best, you will be more comfortable once you start playing.

Good luck to you too Dutchy!

Hi Tex, know what you mean. I over think also. Thought if I played clean, that it might give me an edge with judges. I don't have any expectations, as I'm sure the Boston store will have many students from Berklee college of music. I'm just going to keep it fun, and enjoy another Tee-shirt. I'm sure you will do fine at any location. Thank-you to everyone for the well wishes. :)
